9 VM9414 USING THE TFT MONITOR Open/Close TFT Monitor Open TFT Monitor Press the OPEN/CLOSE button (1) on the front p anel or remote control to activate the mechan ism that moves the display p a nel into the viewin g position.
10 VM9414 Aspect Ratio Press the WIDE button (4) on the mo nitor to adjust the a spect ratio as follows: Picture Adjustment T o adjust monitor display se ttings, perfo rm the follo wing step s: 1. Press the PIC button (24) o n the remote control or press and hold the WIDE/PICTURE button (4) on the monitor to view the “P icture Menu”.
11 VM9414 Monito r Movement Me chanism If an obstru ction occurs in the monitor p ath, the following protective measurements can b e executed to prevent damag e to the mechanism or monitor: Afte r the protective proce dure is executed, no rmal operation is resumed by pressing the OPEN bu tton (1) or disconnectin g and reconnecting the power .
12 VM9414 OPER ATING INSTRUCTIONS Power On / Off Press the SRC/ button (10) on the unit (or th e button (4) on the remote control) to turn the unit on. The buttons on the front of the unit light up and the current mo de status a ppears in th e LCD (7).
13 VM9414 Source Menu Y ou can also use the touch screen to change the source th rough th e Source menu. T o access the Source menu, touch the top left corner of th e screen or press the SRC button on th e front p anel (10) or remote control (8).

15 VM9414 NOTE: The EQ SETTING mode will automatically change to “USE R” when individual audio functions are ad justed. The Audio menu will automa tically exit af ter a few seco nds of inactivity . T o exit quickly , touch the top left corner of t he screen or press the VOL rotary encoder (1 1).
16 VM9414 Steering Wheel Control (SWC) The VM9414 is comp atible with th e P AC (Pacific Accessory Corpora tion) steering wheel con trol adap ter SWI-PS. A 3 .5mm fe male connector ( labeled “SWC Interface”) on the ba ck of the head unit allows connectivity to the P AC adapter .
17 VM9414 SETUP MENU T o access system settings, press he MENU button (1) on the remote control or touch the top lef t corn er of the screen where the current source is indicated, and then to uch the on-scre en SET UP button. The “Setup” menu ap pears, with the current sub-me nu highlig hted in yellow.
18 VM9414 Adjusting a Feature 1. Use the touchscre en or press the / buttons (26, 27) on the remote control to highlig ht the audio feature to be adjusted. 2. Use the touchscre en or press the OK button (30) on th e remote control to view submen u choices.
19 VM9414 V ideo Sub -menu Features If he rear-view video camera is connected, the unit is on, an d the TFT mo nitor is retracted inside the unit, the TFT monitor auto matically moves in to the viewing position and Camera mode is selected upon shift ing into REVERSE gear .

21 VM9414 Navigation Sub-menu Features Misc Sub-menu Features The DVD system has a b uilt-in p arent al lock feature to pre vent unauthorized persons fro m viewing restricted disc conten t. By default, the rating system is unlocked. Once setup, the p arent al lock is released only by ent ering the correct password.
22 VM9414 T o reset the passwo rd, access the “Se t Password” option and ente r he current password to u nlock the field. Access the “Set Passwo rd” again once unlocked and enter a new p assword. Y ou must enter the same p assword twice to confirm.

52 VM9414 Bluetooth Streaming Mus ic Bluetooth provides an Advan ced Audio Distrib ution Profile (A2DP) for streaming music from a wireless phone or port ab le multimedia player (PMP), often ca lled an MP3 player . The VM9414 allows you to play audio f iles from your phone or PMP using a Bluetoo th connection.

64 VM9414 Horizon Na vMate Navigation / Tele Atlas Map Data The naviga tion map data covers the continent al US, Alaska and Hawaii. The initial GPS location lock is best established when your vehicle is parked. If the device is in motion , the signal can t ake longer to in itially connect.

68 VM9414 Using the Keyboard Keyboard Comm and Buttons Look Ahead Feature Y our NavMate software of fers a co nvenient interactive look-a head search function to prevent misspelling. Only keys tha t lead to a search result can be pressed – all others are greyed out.

NOTE: On the keyboard screen, the “SP ACE" button is located in the bottom center of the screen.

72 VM9414 Main Menu The main menu is your ce ntral point of access to all functions of the navigat ion softwa re. It allows you to set your destination, manage your favo rites and control all set ings of your device. The “Main Menu ” consist s of the fo llowing options: • Home Address: Re turn to Home Address.
73 VM9414 Map T racking Screen During naviga tion, the scre en displays your route (in yellow) and your surroundings. A red/b lue arrow ide ntifies your current position. The upcoming maneuver is visualized in th e upper lef t corn er , along with the distan ce and approximate time before that t urn.

77 VM9414 SELECTING A DESTINATION There are five different ways to find and choose a de stination. Some methods allow you to select from a list using the arrow keys, while others allow you to search usin g an on-screen keyboard.
78 VM9414 The “Go T o...” menu appears, allowing yo u to search for an Addre ss or Intersection, select a POI (Point of In terest), enter map Coordinat es, or select a favorite or recent destina tion.

If the home or of fice address is not already saved, a screen like the follo wing will appear: Press the check mark to enter and save your home or o ffice add ress.
