10 ENGLISH PREP ARING FOR USE Machine packaging The original packaging has been designed and constructed to protect the machine during transport. W e recommend keeping the pack aging mat erial for possible future transport. Machine installation 1 Remove the machine from the packaging .
11 ENGLISH 11 8 Slowly pour the co ee beans into the co ee bean hopper . Note: Do not pour too many co ee beans into the co ee bean hopper as this will reduce the grinding performance of the machine. Caution: Only co ee beans must be put into the co ee bean hopper .
12 ENGLISH 12 Switch the pow er button to “I” to turn on the machine. The “ ” button blinks. Y ellow 13 T o turn on the machine simply press the “ ” button.
13 ENGLISH 13 2 Press the “ ” button to start the cycle. The machine starts the automa- tic priming of the circuit by dispensing some water thr ough the Classic Milk Frother . Y ellow 3 The bar under the icon shows the operation pr ogress. When the pro- cess is complete , the machine stops dispensing automatically .
14 ENGLISH Manual rinse cycle During this process you activate the co ee brewing cycle and fresh water ows through the st eam/hot water circuit. This takes a few minutes. 1 Place a container under the dispensing spout. Green 2 Check that the machine shows this display .
15 ENGLISH 15 Green Red 7 Press the “ ” button to start dispensing hot water . 8 Dispense water until the no water icon appears. Note: Y ou can interrupt the manual rinsing by pressing the “ ” button. 9 At the end, ll the water tank again up to the MAX lev el.
16 ENGLISH Measuring and programming wa ter hardness Measuring water hardness is very impor tant f or de ning the frequency in which the machine has to be descaled and to install the “INTENZA+” water lter (for mor e detail on the water lter see nex t chapter).
17 ENGLISH 17 Green 7 Press the “ ” button to exit the programming MENU . The machine shows this display and is r eady to brew . “INTENZA+” water lter installation W e recommend you to install the “INTENZA+” water lter as this prevents lime scale to build up in your machine and preserves a more intense ar oma to your co ee.
18 ENGLISH 4 Put the “INTENZA+ “water lter into the empty water tank. Press it until it cannot move further down. 5 Fill the wat er tank with fresh water and reinsert it into the machine. 6 Dispense the entire water tank by using the hot water function (see chapter “Hot water dispensing”).
19 ENGLISH 19 Y ellow Replacing the “INTENZ A+” water lter When the “INTENZA+” water lter needs to be replaced with a new one , the following icon is displa yed. 1 Replace the “INTENZA+” water lter as described in the previous chap- ter .
20 ENGLISH ADJUSTMENTS The machine allows f or certain adjustments so that you can brew the best tasting co ee possible. Saeco Adapting S ystem Co ee is a natural product and its characteristics may change according t o its origin, blend and roast.
21 ENGLISH 21 1 Press and turn the g rinder adjustment knob one notch at a time. Y ou will taste the di erence after brewing 2-3 cups of co ee . 1 2 2 The ref erence marks inside the co ee bean hopper indicate the grind setting.
22 ENGLISH Adjusting the dispensing spout The height of the dispensing spout can be adjusted to better t the dimensions of the cups that you wish to use. Move the dispensing spout up or down with your ngers to adjust its height as shown in the image.
23 ENGLISH 23 Adjusting the co ee lenght The machine allows y ou to adjust the amount of brewed co ee according to your taste and the size of y our cups. Each time the “ ” or “ ” button is pressed, the machine brews a pre-set amount of co ee.
24 ENGLISH ESPRESSO AND C OFFEE BREWING Before br ewing co ee, make sure that there are no warnings sho wn on the control panel, and that the wat er tank and co ee bean hopper are lled. 2 T o brew an espresso or a C o ee, press the “ ” button to select the desired aroma.
25 ENGLISH 25 Espresso and Co ee brewing using pre -ground co ee This function allows to use pre-ground co ee. With the pre-ground co ee function you can only brew one co ee at a time. 1 Press the “ ” button one or more times to select the pre- ground co ee function.
26 ENGLISH STEAM DISPENSING /CAPPUCCINO BREWING W arning: Danger of scalding! Dispensing may be prec eded by small jets of hot water . The Classic Milk F rother may reach high temper atures. Ne ver touch it with bare hands. U se the appropriate protective handle only .
27 ENGLISH 27 Note: After having pressed the “ ” button it will take a few seconds befor e the machine stops dispensing completely . Caution: Each time after frothing the milk you need to dispense a small amount of hot water into a c ontainer . Remove the e xternal par t of the Classic Milk Fr other and wash it with lukewarm w ater .

29 ENGLISH 29 1 3 2 2 Remove the co ee grounds dra wer and empty it. 3 Empty and clean the drip tray . 4 Inser t the co ee grounds draw er back into the drip tray and this into the machine.
30 ENGLISH Daily cleaning of the Classic Milk Frother It is impor tant that you clean the Classic Milk F rother daily or after each use as it preserves hygiene and ensur es per f ect milk froth consistency. Each time after frothing the milk you need to dispense a small amount of hot water into a container .
31 ENGLISH 31 2 Remove the upper part of the Classic Milk Frother from the hot wat er/ steam wand. 3 W ash the upper part of the Classic M ilk F rother with fresh water . 4 Clean the hot water/steam wand of the Classic Milk Fr other with a wet cloth to remov e milk residues.
32 ENGLISH 5 Thoroughly wash the brew g roup with fresh, lukewarm water and carefully clean the upper lter . Caution: Do not use detergent/soap to clean the brew gr oup . 6 Let the brew g roup air-dr y thoroughly . 7 Thoroughly clean the inside of the machine using a soft, dampened cloth.
33 ENGLISH 33 10 Make sure the hook to lock the brew gr oup is in the correct position by rmly pressing the “PUSH” button until you hear a click. Check if the hook is at the top end position. If it is not, please try again. 12 Inser t the brew g roup in its seat again until it locks into place without pressing the “PUSH” button.
34 ENGLISH Monthly lubrication of the bre w group Lubricate the br ew group after appro ximately 500 cups of co ee or once a month. Y ou can purchase the grease f or the brew gr oup separately to lubricate the brew group . Please refer to the maintenance products page in this user manual for further details.
35 ENGLISH 35 3 Inser t the brew g roup in its seat until it locks into place. (see “ Weekly Cleaning of the Brew Group ” chapter). 4 Close the service door and inser t the drip tray and the co ee grounds drawer .
36 ENGLISH 3 Put a “Co ee Oil Remover” tablet in the pre -ground co ee com- partment. Green 4 Press the “ ” button to select the pre -ground co ee function, without adding ground co ee. 5 Press the “ ” button to star t a co ee brewing cycle.
37 ENGLISH 37 11 W ash the brew group thor oughly with fresh water . Green 12 After rinsing the brew group , inser t it again in its seat until it locks into place (see “ W eekly cleaning of the brew group ” chapter). Inser t the drip tray and the co ee grounds drawer .
38 ENGLISH DESCALING The descaling process takes appr ox. 35 minutes. Lime scale builds up inside the machine during use. It needs to be remo- ved regularly as it may clog the wat er and co ee circuit of your machine. The machine tells you when descaling is needed .
39 ENGLISH 39 Y ellow 2 Remove the Classic Milk F rother from the hot water/steam wand . 3 Remove the “INTENZA+” water lter from the water tank if it was in- stalled and replace it with the small white original one . Place the water tank back into the machine.
40 ENGLISH 9 Press the “ ” button to star t the descaling cycle. Y ellow Y ellow 10 The machine will start dispensing the descaling solution at inter vals. The bar on the control panel sho ws the cycle progress. Note: The descaling cycle may be paused by pressing the “ ” button .
41 ENGLISH 41 19 When the amount of water needed for the rinse cycle has been completely dispensed, this icon on the side is displa yed. P ress the“ ” button to quit the descaling cycle. Green Y ellow 20 Press the “ ” button to prime the circuit.
