RCA easyRip™ Media Sof tware lets you import music files from CDs and other sources, or ganize your music library, and transfer unpr otected MP3 and WMA files to and fr om this player .
17 Connecting to the computer • Connect the player to y our computer with the USB cable provided . The play er will turn on automatically . • The player will be connected in MSC (Mass Storage Class) mode . It will appear as a drive letter on your computer and behave as a detachable driv e for file transf er in one or both directions.
18 • It may take several seconds for the play er to be detected. Click V iew -> Refresh in My Computer or W indows Explorer t o make sure the player has been det ected. • The player is capable of transf erring files at USB 2.0. If a USB 2.0 port is available on your computer , use it t o connect to your play er .
19 Managing files on your RCA Pla yer Before y ou begin using your RCA play er , y ou’ll want to c opy your media files to the pla yer . Y ou can use any of the following methods to transf er conten.
Using W indows Explorer T o c op y files in MSC mode: 1. Open the player in W indows Explorer . 2. Drag and drop music files into the Music folder and phot o files into the Photo folder . Deleting files from the play er Y ou ma y delete an y files transferred t o the player .
21 General controls T urning the pla y er on and off T urn player on/off: Press and hold the for a moment. Locking the player c ontrols Lock play er controls: Slide the Lock key t o lock position ( ) .
22 Menu types The player has two menu types: Player menu The player menu appears when y ou turn on the player or if you pr ess while listening to the player . I t lets you: • Browse f or and play music, audible , video and photo files • Listen to the radio • Change the player’ s settings – language , display brightness, et c.
23 • If the highlighted item is playable (for example , an audio file), press to start playback. • If the highlighted item indicates the current setting (for example , the repeat mode setting), press to change the setting.
24 The Home menu The top-level or “Home ” menu is always displa yed when you pr ess and hold . The menu options are: Audible Press to enter the Audible menu and choose a particular audible for listening . Radio Press to ent er the Radio menu and choose to either listen to the radio or play rec ordings of previous radio shows .
25 Playing music files The player sorts your music files by track name (title), artist, album and genre. 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to Music . 2. Press to enter Music mode. 3. Use + or – and or to navigate through the menus and highlight the desir ed item, then press or to start listening.
26 The following options ar e available: • Add to Playlists – Adds the current file t o the Playlists index (read Playlist section). Each file can be added to the Playlists index multiple times. • Repeat – T oggles repeat mode. Options available: Off, One 1 , and All (c orresponding icons sho w on the display).

32 Audible Audible pla yback controls Playing audible Audible playback is similar to music pla yback. 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to A udible . 2. Press to enter Audible mode . 3. Use + or – and or to navigate through the menus and highlight the desir ed item, then press or to start listening.
33 Option menu (A udible playback) Press at the playback (Now Playing) scr een to pause the playback and press to show the Option menu. Press + or – to highlight an option and then press to confirm the selection or change the setting.
34 Radio Playing F M radio T o turn the r adio on: 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to Radio . 2. Press to enter Radio mode. 3. While Listen is highlighted, press or to start listening. The frequency screen appears . T o tune the r adio: • Press and hold or to start scanning through the frequency range.

Improving F M radio sound If stereo reception is noisy , y ou can often reduce the noise by switching t o mono or by shifting headphone cord position.
36 Creating a Playlist Y ou can cr eate a pla ylist of your fav orite music by adding new files to the playlist as y ou listen to them. This function is not available for other media f ormats such as video, photo , audible and r ecording. T o add the curr ently pla ying music file in the playlist: 1.
37 Settings Changing the play er ’ s settings T o change the pla y er settings: 1. In the Home menu, press + or – and or to navigate to Settings . 2. Press to enter Settings mode. 3. Use + or – and or to navigate through the menus and highlight the desired it em, then press to change the settings.
38 Screensav er • Sets the screensaver activation time which will launch the screensav er after specified duration of inactivity. • Options: 10 sec., 20 sec., 30 sec., or 1 min. P ow erSav e • Sets the powersave int erval time which will turn the player off after specified duration if no key is pressed.
39 Tips and tr oubleshooting Cannot delete files on the play er . • Y ou can delet e files on the play er using your computer . 1. Connect the player to y our computer . 2. Open the player in W indows Explorer and na vigate to the f older containing the files.
40 The play er takes a long time to read files in a f older . • File r eading may take longer if too many files ar e put in a single folder . Re-organize your files into a number of folders. Song information is not showing corr ectly . • Song information may not match your curr ent player’ s language setting .
41 How to format devic e? • Perform a format to r emove all data fr om player (Home => Settings => F ormat). • IMPORT ANT : Backup y our media before f ormatting the player .
