6 COOKTOP USE Cooktop Control s The control knobs can be set any wher e between HI and LO. Pus h in and turn to s etting. On some mode ls, the su rface cooking area locator shows w hich element is tur ned on. Use the followi n g chart as a guide when set t ing heat l evels.
7 ■ Use flat-bott omed cookware for best heat conduction and energy ef ficiency . Cookware with rounded, warped, ribbe d or dented bo ttoms could cause uneven h eatin g an d poor cooking results. ■ Determin e flatness by placing t he straight edge of a ruler across the bottom of the cookware.
8 Home Canning When canning for l on g periods, alternate the use of su rface cooking areas, elements or su rface burners bet ween batches. This allows ti me for the most r ecentl y used areas to cool. ■ Center the canne r on the grate or largest surface cooki ng area or element.
9 ELECTR ONIC OV EN CONTROL Ov en Indicator Lights The indicat or lights are located along all 4 sid es of the display . The indicator lights light up or flash when the oven is in one of the follo win.
10 Control Loc k The Control Loc k shuts dow n the control panel p ads to prevent unintended use of the oven. When the control is l ocked, only the Clock and Timer pads will function. T o Lock/Unlock Contr ol: Before locking, make sure the oven and Timer are off.

12 Meat Thermometer On models wit h out a tempe rature pr obe, always r ely on a meat thermometer to determine donenes s of meat and poultry . The inter nal temperature, not appearance, is what counts. A meat thermometer is not sup plied with this appli ance.
13 T o Br oil: 1. Press CUSTOM BROIL. The broil oven in d icator light will light up. 2. Press ST A R T/ENTER. The On and Heat oven indicator lights will li ght up. The temperature setting can be changed any time before or after pr essi ng ST ART/ENTER .

15 General Cle aning IMPORT AN T : Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and the oven and cookt op are cool. Always follow label in structions on cle aning p r oduc ts. Soap, wat er and a soft cloth or sponge are su ggested first un l ess otherwise noted.

17 Ov e n Lig ht (on some models) The oven light is a standard 40-watt app liance bulb. It wil l come on when the oven door is op en. The oven light wi ll not work during the S elf-Cleaning cycle. On some models, whe n the oven door is closed, press the manual oven li ght switch on the backguard to tu rn on and off.
