CUTTING WITH YOUR COMPOUND MITER SAW WARNING: When using a work clamp or C-clamp to secure your workpiece, clamp workpiece on one side of the blade only . The workpiece must remain free on one side of the blade to pr event the blade fr om binding in workpiece.
TO BEVEL CUT See Figures 27 - 29. A bevel cut is made by cutting across the grain of the workp iece with the blad e angl ed to the wor kpiece . A straight bevel cut is made with the miter table set at the zero degree position and the blade set at an angle between -2 ° and 47 ° .
Slowly lower the blade into and through the workpiece. Rel eas e t he swit ch trig ge r an d a llo w the s aw blad e t o st op rotating before raising the blade out of workpiece. W ait until the electric brake stops blade fr om turning befor e removing the workpiece fr om miter table.
Align the cutting line on the workpiece with the edge of saw blade. Gra sp the s toc k f irm ly wit h o ne hand and se cur e it agai nst the fence. Use the optional work clamp or a C-clamp to secure the workpiece when possible. See Figure 30.
CUTTING COMPOUND MITERS T o aid in making the corr ect settings, the compound angle setting chart below has been provided. Since compound cuts ar e the most difficult to accurately obtain, trial cuts should be made in scrap material, and much thought and planning made, prior to making your requir ed cut.
When cutting crown moldin g by this method the bevel angle shou ld be set at 33.85 °. The mi ter angle sho uld be se t at 31. 6 ° either right or left, depending on the desired cut for the ap- plication. See the chart below for correct angle settings and correct positioning of cr own molding on miter table.
CUTTING WARPED MA TERIAL See Figures 34 - 35. When cutting warped material, always make sur e it is posi- tioned on the miter table with the convex side against the fence as shown in figure 34. If the warped mat erial is positioned the wr ong way as shown in figure 35, it will pinch the blade near the completion of the cut.
WRONG WARNING: T o avoid a kickback and to avoid serious personal injury , never position the concave edge of bowed or warped material against the fence. Fig. 36 Fig. 35 OPERA TION 1 5 2 0 2 5 3 0 3 5 4 0 4 5 1 0 WIDE BOARD MAINTENANCE CLAMPING WIDE WORKPIECES See Figure 36.
