7 GLOSSAR Y OF TERMS Bevel Cut A cutting operation made with the saw table at any angle other than 90° to the blade. Compound Cut A compound cut is a cut made using a miter angle and a bevel angle at the same time. Crosscut A cutting or shaping operation made across the grain or the width of the workpiece.
8 EXTENSION CORDS Use only 3-wire extension cor ds that have 3-prong ground- ing plugs and 3-pole rec eptacles that accept the tool's plug. When using a power tool at a conside rable dist ance fr om the power source, use an extension cord heavy enough to carry the curr ent that the tool will draw .

BLADE TENSION KNOB Rotation of this knob will increase or decrease the tension on the blade. TRACKING KNOB Adjusts tracking to keep blade centered on the wheels.

16 ASSEMBL Y ASSEMBLING LEG ST AND See Figures 11 - 12. n Locate the following hardwar e: 40 carriage bolts (M8 x 1.25-16) 40 washers (M8) 40 lock washers (M8) 40 nuts (M8) 4 legs (with attached leveling feet) 2 leg braces (short) 2 leg braces (long) 1 base 2 screws 1 motor support n Place base upside down on a level surface.

19 ASSEMBL Y Fig. 20 MOUNTING THE SWITCH BOX See Figure 20. n Locate the following hardwar e: 2 pan head screws (M5 x 0.8-12) 2 lock washers (M5) n Mount switch assembly to frame as shown using pan head screws. Thread screws into band saw chassis using a Phillips screwdriver .

21 ASSEMBL Y n Replace throat plate and table pin. n T ransportation and handling may have caused some fasteners to loosen. Before operating, check all screws, bolts and nuts to make sure they are snug. Operate machine only after reading the entire operator's manual including blade tracking, blade guide adjustments, and safety rules.

26 OPERA TION A VOIDING INJURY n Make sure saw is level and does not rock. Saw should always be on a firm, level surface with plenty of room for handling and properly supporting the workpiece. n T ur n saw off, remove switch key , and unplug cord from the power source befor e moving the saw .
