C HAPTER 2: I NSTALLATION 5 Chapter 2: Installation Configuring Target Servers Before installing Dominion KX, you m u st configure any target se rvers to be accessed via Dominion KX, t o ensure optimum performance.
6 D OMINION KX U SER M ANUAL Windows 2000 / ME Settings On target servers running Mi crosoft Windows 2000/ME, set th e mouse pointer acceleration t o None and the mouse motio n speed exactly to the middle speed setting. These parameters are found in Contr ol Panel → Mouse .

Wait appro ximately 30 sec onds as Dom inion KX bo ots. 3. After it boots, a login prompt will appear on the monitor attach ed to Dominion KX’s Local Access Console.
10 D OMINION KX U SER M ANUAL Note to CommandCenter Users If you are using Dominion KX i n a CommandCenter configurat ion, perform the installation steps as outlined above. After completing these steps, consult the CommandCen ter user guide to proceed with your installation.
C HAPTER 2: I NSTALLATION 11 Establish a Connection When you do uble-click on y our Domi nion KX icon , its login screen a ppears. Log on with yo ur username and password (default: admin/raritan ) to connect to your Dominion KX unit. Use the RRC Navigator, on the left side of the RRC window, to select and connect to a server port.

Dominion KX is unique in that it optimizes its KVM outpu t for not only LAN utilization, but also via th e WAN and dial-up.

Vide o pixels that stray from the majority color are assigned approximated colo r values to reduce bandwidth used and video noise transmitted.

Important: Dominion KX must be rebooted before Network Configuration changes take effect.

Control is based on first active keyboard/m ouse input, so multiple remote users attempting keyboard input or mouse movement at exactly th e same moment m ay experience uneven control.
36 D OMINION KX U SER M ANUAL Users, Groups, and Access Permissions Overview Dominion KX keeps an internal list of user and group names to determ ine access authorization and permissions. This information is stored internally in a hashed / encrypted format.

When creating a us er, you must assi gn that user to an existing user group. In additio n, Us er Groups are used even if you implement remote authentication (via RADIUS or LD AP).

Authorization is determ ined by Dom inion KX on the basis of user groups.
