6 To remove the antenna from your ve- hicle, grasp the base and then firmly “peel” it up and off the vehicle’s sur- fac e. Cautio n: Never slide the antenna’s magnetic bas e across your v ehicle’s painted surface. Dust and dirt parti- cles might scratch y our vehicle’s fin- ish.

8 CB OPERATION T IPS Like most activities, CB radio use has its customs and courtes ies. Althoug h this CB radio is designed f or emer- gency use, it does work on all 40 CB channels and can be use d for more than just em ergencies. The fo llowi ng tips will hel p you get the most benefit and satisfaction from your CB.

Their use permits faster communication and helps prev ent m isunderstandin g in noisy areas. 11 T ROUBLESHOOTI NG W it h prop er care and ha ndling, your CB should give you years of trouble-free ser- vice. However, if your CB is not working properly, follow these suggest ions to see if you can eliminate the problem. If you still have a problem, take the CB to your local R adioShack store for ass istance.
12 REDUCING NOI SE Because yo ur CB is exceptional ly quiet, any noise y ou hear is proba bly from an ex ternal s ource in y our ve hi- cle — the ignition, another radio, spark plugs, and so forth. You can d etermine the sourc e of th e noise by turnin g off t he engin e an d operating the CB wi th the ignition set to ACC.

14 REPLACING THE POWER CORD’ S F USE T he p ow er cor d’ s 2- am p fu se hel ps protect you r CB from power surges and s hort circui ts. If t he f use is blown, replace it with a 2-am p, 250 -volt, fast-acting fuse (Cat. No. 270-1052). Follow these steps t o replace the fus e.
