8 INSTALLA TION MOUNTING THE P HONE You can place the T AD-725’ s bas e on a desk or t able, mount it on a s tandard wall plate , or mount it directly on a wall.

Insert the two tabs at the top of the narrow end of the supp lied bra cket into the b ase’s upper tab slots as shown, then pres s down on the bracke t’s lat ch es and in ser t t hem in - to the lowe r slots .

12 1. Set DIAL MODE to T (to ne). 2. Li ft the handset and l isten fo r a di al tone. Press any numb er other than 0 . Note: If your p hone system re quires that you dia l an ac cess cod e (9, for example ) before you dial an out side number , do not press the ac cess code nu mber ei ther .
13 Repeatedly press VOLUME until you hear the desire d ringer setti ng. Each time you press VOLUME , the ri nger cha nges in this order: SETTING THE NUMBER OF RINGS Set RING TIME on the side of th e base to 3 , 5 , or T/S to select ho w long th e TAD waits to an swer a call (3 rings, 5 ring s, or toll-sav er).

18 MEMORY DIALING You ca n store up to 10 num bers in memory , then dial a stored number b y pressi ng MEM an d a one -digit memory loca tion numb er. Also , with the pres s of one button , M1 , M2 , o r M3 , you can dial a number t hat is s tored in one o f the fi rst three memory l ocatio ns.
19 Entering a Pause In some tel ephone sy stems, yo u must dial an access code ( 9 , for example ) and wait for a se cond dial tone before y ou can dia l an outside number. You c an store the ac cess code with the pho ne number. How ever, you must also stor e a pause afte r the ac cess code to allow the outside l ine time to conn ect.

21 T AD OPERATION SELECTI NG THE OUTGOING MESSAGE The TAD has two prer ecorded outgo - ing mess ages. One asks the c aller to leave a mess age: “He llo, no one is availab le to tak e your c all. Pl ease leave a messa ge afte r the to ne.” T he TAD uses this message when REC TIME is set to 1 or 4 (see “Setti ng the Record Time ”).
22 SETTING THE T AD TO ANSWER CALLS To set the TA D to answe r calls, pres s ANSWER . If the TAD is set to rec ord a caller ’s mess age ( see “S etting the Record Ti me” on P age 21), it plays the outgoing me ssag e and show s the num- ber of r ecorded mess ages.
23 To record a memo, hol d down MEMO on the base un til the TA D beeps and –– appears in the m essage counte r win- dow, the n speak y our mes sage. Wh en you fin ish the memo, pr ess PLA Y/STOP or MEMO . Note: The TAD-7 25 cannot rec ord a memo les s than two secon ds long.
24 To replay the current m essage from the beginn ing, press REPEA T . If yo u press REPEA T wi thin abo ut 4 secon ds after a message begins playing , the TAD re- plays th e previ ous mess age. ADJUSTING THE T AD ’ S VO L U M E To adjust the speaker’s volu me, repeat- edly pres s VOLUME or on the base.
25 REMOTE OPERA TION While y ou are a way fr om your home o r office, yo u can use a to uch-tone phone, or a pulse (rot ary) phon e with a pocket tone dial er ( avai labl e thr ough your local RadioShac k stor e) to enter your PIN a nd do any of the followi ng: • Set the T AD to ans wer or not an - swer call s.
26 • When usi ng remote operatio n, you can on ly delete the current m essa ge during play back. Y ou cannot d elete all the mes sages s tored at on e time. • The maxim um length o f a memo re - corded by remo te operati on is 4 minutes. 4. T o use a remot e command , press # and (withi n 2 secon ds) the numbe r for the c ommand yo u want.
