8 Installation ˆ Installation MOUNTING THE PHONE You can place the phone’s base on a desk or table, mount it on a standard wall plate, or mount it directly on a wall.
9 Installation 4. Route the adapter ’s cord through the strain relief slot on the bottom of the base. 5. Plug the adapter into a standard AC out- let.

Plug one end of the supp lied long modu- lar cord into the TEL LINE jack on the back of the base and route the adapter cable and modular cords through the grooves on the br acket. 3. Align the bracket’s keyhole slots with the mounting screws and slide the phon e downward to secure it.
11 Installation • If the battery pack becomes weak during a call, the handset beeps eve ry 3 sec- onds and Low Battery flashes. If this happens, you cannot make another call on the phone until you re charge the bat- tery pack. • About once a month, fully discharge th e battery pack by keeping the handset off the base until Low Battery fl ashes.
12 Installation SETTING THE DIALING MODE Set DIAL MODE on the back of the base for the type of service you have. If you are not sure which type you have, once the battery pack is fully charged, do this test. 1. Be sure DIAL MODE is set to T (tone). 2.
13 Operation T URNING CALLER ID/ CALL W AITING ON/OFF If you subscribe to Call Waiting with Caller ID service, you can set the phone to sh ow Call- er ID information for an incoming call even while you are using the phone. Follow these steps to turn the Calle r ID/ Call Waiting feature on or off.
14 Operation When you receive a call, Incoming Call appears on the display. To answer it, lift th e handset from the base and p ress TA L K . If auto talk is on, just lift the handset from the base or press any key. Talk and the current volume setting appear on the display.
15 Operation To release a call from hold, lift the handset and press TA L K , press SPEAK ER or HOLD on the base, or pick up any extensi on phone on the same line. USING MUTE While talking on the speakerphone , you can temporarily turn off the phone’s microphon e by pressing MUTE so the other party cannot hear you.
16 Operation USING PAGE/INTERCOM You can use the phone as a two-way pager and intercom between the base and the handset. This is useful if the handset is away from the base and you want to locate it, or if you want to converse with someone through the intercom.
17 Operation 2. Hold down MEM until Memory Store and a list of memory location numbers appears. 3. Press a number (01–20) or repea tedly press 8 or 9 to choose a two-digit memory location. Precede a single digit location number wi th 0 – 01, 02, 03 , an d so on.
18 Operation 5. Press VOL/CID 8 or 9 to highli ght the desired option then pre ss CH/SELECT to choose it. Storing a Number in the Base’ s Memory Note: An error tone sounds an d the phone exits the storing process if you wait more than 20 seconds between each keypress.
19 Operation Note: If you select an empty memory loca- tion, the base beeps. Chain-Dialing Service Numbers For quick recall of numb ers for special ser- vices (such as ba nk by phone), store each group of numbers in its own memory l oca- tion. Dial the service’s main number first.
20 Operation Then, repeatedly press VOL/C ID 9 to scroll through the Caller ID records from the new- est to the oldest, or VOL/CID 8 to scroll back through the record s. To scroll quickly throug h the records, hold down VOL/CID 8 or 9 . When you scroll past the last record, tota l record number appears, then the first record.
21 Operation Storing a Caller ID Record to Memory Follow these steps to store the name an d number from a Caller ID record into a memo- ry location. 1. Press CAL L ID then VOL/CID 8 or 9 to recall the record you w ant to store. 2. If you want to add or delete the area code, press 3 .
22 Troubleshooting ˆ T roubleshooting We do not expect you to have any problems with your phone, bu t if you do, these sugge stions might help. Problem Suggestion The phone does n ot work or works poorly. Be sure the base’s phon e line cord and AC adapte r are correctly and securely connected.
23 Troubleshooting If you still have problems, discon nect the phone. If other phones on the same line work proper- ly, the fault is in th is phone or its in stallation. If you cannot fi nd the problem, take the p hone to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
