6 PREPARATION Note: The base un it dis play is pr otec ted during shi pment by a piec e of clear fil m. Carefull y peel off this film before u sing your ph one for the fi rst time. MOUNTING THE P H ONE You can p lace the phon e's base o n a desk or table, mou nt it on a standard wall plate , or mount it direc tly on a wall.

8 On a W all To mount the pho ne directly on a wall, you need two s cre ws (not suppl ied) with heads th at fit int o the keyhole slots on the bottom of the bas e. Follow the steps under “O n a Wal l Pla te” on P age 7, then apply th ese addit ional ins tructi ons for placeme nt on a wall .
9 Important: Be sure the b attery pack i s properly connected befo re you try to charge it. Notes: • When you first us e the phone afte r chargi ng or rechargi ng the battery pack, the phone might not work and you migh t hear a f ive-beep er ror sig- nal.
10 If the dial tone stops , you have touch-to ne service. Lea ve DIAL MODE P- -T set to -T . If the dial to ne continue s, you hav e pulse s ervice. Set DIAL MODE P- -T to P- . 4. Press SPEAKER to hang up . T URNING THE BA SE RINGER ON /O FF To turn off th e base's ring er , set RINGER on the back of the bas e to OF F .

12 OPERATION Note: To use the speak erphone, y ou must use the base keypad; to use the handset, y ou must use the han dset key - pad. MAKING A CALL Using the Handset To make a call, lift th e handset a nd press TA L K . Talk appe ars on the handset's display an d Handset in Use appears on the b ase's di splay and CHARGE/IN USE lights.

14 USING B OTH TH E HANDSET AND THE SPEAKERPHONE If someone else is using the speak er- phone, pres s TA L K on the hands et to join t he conv er sati on. If so meo ne else i s using the ha ndset, press SPEAKER on the base t o join the c onv ersati on.

Wh en yo u h ang up , th e phon e a uto - matical ly resets to p ulse dialing. USING PAGE/INTERCOM You can use the phone as a two-way pager and i ntercom betwe en the base and the hand set.
16 To transfer a call from the bas e to the handset, pr ess INTERCOM . The call is placed on hold, CHA RGE/IN USE blinks , and Hold and Paging Hand- set appear on the base's di splay. When the person with the h andset an - swer s, press SPEAKER .
17 MEMORY DIALING You can store up to 20 num bers in the handset's memory and an other 10 in the base's mem ory, then dial a sto red num- ber by pressing a memory l ocation num - ber. You can al so store a name with each numb er in the h andset's m emory.

19 Menu Opti ons: • Edit Memory nn — edit the recor d as des cribed i n Steps 5 through 8 o f “Storing a Na me and Number i n Memory” on P age 17. • Delete Memory nn — the display prompts you to con firm the d eletion. Move the c ursor to Yes , then pr ess SELECT or DEL/CH .
20 Note: If you s elect an empty mem ory lo- cation , no numbe r appears . To dial a nu mber sto red in one- touch dial mem ory, simp ly press the button ( M1 - M4 ) . You do not need to pres s SPEAKER to dial the numbe r in one - touch dia l memory. Note: If you sele ct an em pty one-touc h dial memo ry, the b ase beeps fiv e error beeps.
21 Reviewing Caller ID Reco rds (Handset Only) To review th e Caller ID rec ords in the handset's memory, lift the handset and press CAL L ID . The number of new Ca ll - er ID r ecords, if a ny, and the tota l num- ber of rec ords appear s.
22 Note: If a Calle r ID record does not con- tain a pho ne number (if it was b locked by the c aller, for example) you can not dial fro m that record. Storing a Caller ID Record to Memory (Handset Only) To store t he name and number from a Caller ID record int o a hand set's memo - ry locati on, re call the rec ord you want to store.
