6 Co nnectin g t he Sp eaker Wi r e s Follow these s teps to c onnect the speaker w ires to the CD-3319 . 1. Unwind as much speaker wire as you n eed from the back of ea ch speaker , then slide the wi re through one of t he slots on the back of each speaker to hold it in place.
7 CONNECTING POWER You can p ower t he CD-331 9 from a ny of the following: • AC power using the suppli ed AC power cord • Nine D batteries (not supp lied) • V eh icle battery powe r using a DC-.
8 3. Replace the battery compartment cover . Cautio ns: • If the CD-3319 does not operate properly or if t he sou nd weake ns or distorts, replace th e batteries. • Always dispo se of the ol d batter- ies promptly and properly . • Never leave de ad, old, or weak batteries in t he CD-3319.
9 USING HEADPHONES For private listening, you can c onnect a pair of stereo headphones (not su p- plie d) w ith a 1 / 8 -inch plug. Your local Radio Shac k store carries a wide se- lection of stereo headphon es. To connect the headp hones, insert the headphones ’ 1 / 8 -inch plug into t he PHONES j ack.
10 RADIO OPERA T ION Warnin g : To protect your hearing, set VOLUME to its l owest se tti ng bef ore you turn on the radio. Follow these steps to us e the radio. 1. Set FUN C TI ON to RADIO to turn o n the radio. The P OWE R indicator ligh ts. 2. Set BAND to FM or AM .

12 Warning: Y our CD-3319 CD player has a wide dynam ic range. If you turn the volume too hi gh during the low v o lume sections of a program, y ou might dam age your hearing during sudd en loud sect ions. 3. Press E-BASS t o enhanc e the bass sound s whil e playing the CD.

14 SPECIAL CD PLA YER FEA TURES Au tomat ic Sear ch M usi c Syst em (AS MS) You can use A SMS to s earch through the CD t o select a desired t rack or programme d seq uence. To select a track during play: • Press and releas e SKIP/SEARCH to return to the beginning of th e current track.

17 CASSE TTE P LA YER OPE RA TION LOADING A CASSETTE TA P E Note: Tak e up any slack in the t ape by turning the cassette’s hub with a pencil. If you do not remove excess slack, the tape mig ht become tangled in the record/ playbac k mechanism. Avoid touc hing t he t ape.
18 • T o rapidly wind the t ape forwa rd or backward, p ress FA S T - F or REWIND . The cassett e deck auto matical ly st o ps a t th e end of the tape. • Be sure the cas sette player i s stopped before f ast-forwarding or rewinding a cassette tape.
19 3. If you are n ot starting from trac k 1, select th e desired track or pro- gram a sequenc e (if you do not want to record the en tire CD), then press PLA Y/ P AUSE twice to paus e the CD player .
20 T APE CARE TIPS Pre ventin g Acci dental Erasu re Cassette tapes have two eras e- protection tabs — one for each side. To protect a rec ording from bein g ac- cidentally recorded over or erased, use a screwdriver to rem ove one or both of the casse tte tape’s erase-pro- tection tabs.
