Introduction 3 INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasi ng a RadioShack 2.4 GHz Multi Handset Expandable Cordl ess Telephone. Unlike other con ventional cordless telephone s, your telephone supports up to four handsets on a single telephone line. You can add a handset to any room in your home or office that h as an AC outlet.

Important Information 5 If you use more tha n one phone or other device on the line, add up al l of the RENs. If the total is more than five (three in rural areas), your telephones might not ring. If ringer operation is impaired, remove a device from the line.

Installation 8 INSTALLATION Before using your ph one, carefully peel the protective film off the display. The film protects the handset window during shipment and is n ot necessary for use. S ELECTING A L OCATION You can place the phone’s base on a desk or table, or mount it on a standard wall plate or directly on a wall.
Installation 9 On a Desk Top 1. Plug one end of the supplie d long modular cord into the TEL LINE jack on the bac k of the base. 2. Plug the modular cord’ s other end into a modular phone line jack. 3. Inser t the suppli ed A C adapter’ s barrel plug into the DC IN 9V jack on the back of the base.

Installation 11 1. Press down and slide off the batter y compar tmen t cover . 2. Lift the batter y pack out of the compar tment. 3. Plug the batter y pack’ s connector into the sock et in the compar tment (the connector fits only one way), then place the batter y pack in the co mpar tment.

Press the volume up key or volume down key (labeled as VOL/RING/ or VOL/RING/ in standby mode to select one of three ringer volume (off, low, or high).

Phonebook 33 PHONEBOOK The Phonebook allows you to dial a number using just a few key presse s. Your phone stores names/numbers in the phonebook memory location, and you can search names in alphabetica l order. You have a total of 100 locations that can be used for the phonebook (including th e speed dials) and Caller ID messages.

Caller ID 39 C HAIN D IALING The memory locations in the handset are not limited to phone nu mbers. You can also store a group of numbers (up to 20 digits), that you need to enter once your call connects. This is referred to as Chain Dialing. An example of thi s is a bank acco unt number.

The Integrated Answering Device 51 Choosing between the two outgoing messages When the phone is in standby mode, press OGM . Press OGM again when the outg oing message is play ed. Each time OGM is pressed, the outgoing message is switched between the pre-recorded and the personal outgoing message.

The Integrated Answering Device 54 Setting the ring time The ring time setting allows you to set the number of rings the cal ler hears before your answering system plays the outgoing message. You can set the ring time to answer after two, four, or six rings.

Announce only feature The Announce only feature plays a pre- recorded outgoing message or your own personal outgoing message, but it will not allow the caller to leave a message.

The Integrated Answering Device 61 When you try to del ete all messages without first listening to your new messages, you hear several short beeps followed by an announcement “ Plea se playback al l messages ” . This protects you from accidentally erasing messages you have not yet reviewed.
