Introduction 5 • Charge the batter y pack pro vided with or identified f or use with this product only in accordance with the instructions and limitations specified in the instruction manual provided f or this product. • Obser v e proper polarity or ientation between the batter y pack and battery charger .
Introduction 6 The digital answering system stores up to 13 minutes of messages on a computer chip and records each message’s day and time. This gives you advanced capabilities over tape-based answering machines: •Y ou can delete individual messages and sav e the rest.
Installation 7 INSTALLATION M OUNTING THE P HONE You can place the phone on a desk or table, mount it on a standard wall plate, or directly on a wall. Choose a location that is: • near an A C outlet.
Installation 8 3. Inser t the supplied AC adapter’ s barrel plug into the DC IN 9V jack on the bac k. 4. Route the adapter’ s cord through the strain relief slot on the base’ s bottom. 5. Plug the adapter into a standard A C outlet. 6. Lift the base’ s antenna to a ver tical position.

F or a wall plate , plug the modular cord’ s other end into the wall plate jac k, then align the base’ s keyhole slots with the w all plate studs and slide the base downw ard to secure it. F or direct wall mounting , align the base’ s ke yhole slots with the mounting screws and slide the base downw ard to secure it.
Installation 10 3. Plug the batter y pack’ s connector into the sock et in the compar tment. The connector fits only one wa y . 4. Put the batter y pack in the compar tment. 5. Replace the cov er . To charge the battery pack, place the handset on the base, face up or down.
Installation 11 The supplied battery pack should last about a year. If the battery pack does not hold a charge for more than 2 hours after an overnight charge, replace it with a new 3.6V, 600 mAh battery pack with a connector that fits the socket in the battery compartment.
Operation 12 1. Press and hold the FLASH until you hear a confirmation tone. 2. T o set the dial mode for pulse dialing, press #. Or to set the dial mode f or tone dialing, press ∗ /tone . Y ou hear a confirmation tone to indicate the setting is complete.
Operation 13 A DJUSTING THE H ANDSET R INGER AND E ARPIECE V OLUME Handset Ringer Tone When the phone is in standby mode, press V OL/ RING repeatedly to listen to the two ringer tone options. Earpiece Volume The handset earpiece volume settings (Low, Medium and High) can only be adjusted during a call.
Operation 14 T RAVELING O UT - OF -R ANGE During a call, as you begin to move your handset too far from your base unit, your call will terminate within 1 minutes. S ELECTING A D IFFERENT C HANNEL If you encounter interference while using your phone, you can manually change the phone’s channel for clear operation.
Memory Dialing 15 MEMORY DIALING S TORING P HONE N UMBERS IN M EMORY Memory Dialing allows you to dial a number using just a few key presses. Your phone stores up to 10 numbers in the handset. Ô 1. When the phone is in the stand-by mode , press MEM .
Memory Dialing 16 An example of this is a bank account number. Once you have called your bank, and are prompted to enter the account number, press MEM and the location number where the special number has been stored. Store your special number in memory as you would store a phone number.

If there is a number already stored, the ne w number will be ov erwr itten without warning. M AKING CALLS WITH THE S PEED D IAL When the phone is in the standby mode, simply press SPEED DIAL .
The Integrated Answering Device 18 F EATURES Digital Tapeless Recording allows you to quickly review, save, or delete the messages you choose. You will never have to worry about a tape wearing out, jamming, or resetting improperly.

After the announcement “Ans wering system is off ” the message counter displa y will no longer be illuminated. The Integrated Answering Device 20 Setting the Time The clock on the answering system starts when power is supplied to the base. Follow these steps to set the clock to the correct time. Ô 1. Press cloc k/menu . The system announces “Time”, the current time and the guidance f or setting the time.
The Integrated Answering Device 21 Setting a Personal Security Code (PIN) To play your messages from a remote location, you need to enter a two-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) code (01-99). To select a PIN, perform the following steps: Ô 1.

The Integrated Answering Device 23 outgoing message automatically switches to announce only message. To scroll between the prerecorded message or your own personal greeting, press greeting when the outgoing message is played.

The Integrated Answering Device 27 U SING Y OUR A NSWERING S YSTEM The message counter displays the number of messages stored in memory. If the display flashes, then there are new messages waiting for you. The flashing number represents the number of new messages, not total messages.

Remote access away from home You can operate your answering system from a remote location using any touch-tone telephone. Use this function to check for recorded messages, to play or delete messages, even to record a new greeting message.

Additional Information 32 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I NSTALLING THE O PTIONAL B ELTCLIP To attach the beltclip Insert the beltclip into the holes on each side of the handset. Press down until it clicks. To remove the beltclip Pull both sides of the beltclip to release the tabs from the holes.
33 Troubleshooting TROUBLESHOOTING If your phone is not performing to your expectations, please try these simple steps first . Problem Solution The CHARGE/IN USE LED won’t illuminate when the handset is placed on the base. Make sure the A C adapter is plugged into the base and wall outlet.
34 Troubleshooting If you still have problems, disconnect the phone. If other phones on the same line work properly, the fault is in this phone or its installation. If you cannot find the problem, take your phone to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
Care 35 CARE Keep the phone dry; if it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Use and store the phone only in normal temperature environments. Handle the phone carefully; do not drop it. Keep the phone away from dust and dirt, and wipe it with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.
