3 Features ˆ Features Your RadioShack Digital Tu ning AM/FM Stereo Auto-Reverse Cassette Player de- livers excellent sound from its built-in ra- dio or your favorite cassette tapes, using optional speakers or stereo headphones. You can set the time on the display, set an alarm, and store up to 20 rad io sta- tions in memory.
4 Features Auto-Reverse Cassette Deck — lets you continuously play a cassette tape. LCD with Clock and Alarm — displays the current time and lets you set the cassette player to sound an alarm at the time you select. BASS ON/OFF Swit ch — lets you em- phasize bass sounds to suit your listening preferences.
5 Features Three Power Options — let you power the cassette player from internal batter- ies, standard AC power (w ith an optional AC adapter), or your vehicle's ci garette- lighter socket (with an optional DC adapt- er). Removable Belt Clip — lets you attach the cassette player to your belt for hands- free carrying when you are on the go.

7 Preparation • Use outlets on different electrical cir- cuits f or the equipm ent and th e radio or TV . Consult your local RadioShack store if the problem still e xists.
8 Preparation To remove the belt clip , press the upper part of the clip and slide it down. POWERING THE CASSETTE PLAYER You can power your cassette player from any of three power sources: • interna.
9 Preparation Using Batteries You can power your cassette player from two AA batteries (not supp lied). We rec- ommend RadioShack alkalin e batteries. You can also use rechargeabl e nickel- cadmium batteries. If you use recharge- able batteries, you also need a battery charger (not supplied, available at yo ur local RadioShack store ).
10 Preparation 1. Press down on the battery compart- ment cover and slide it in the direc- tion of the arrow , then lift it up on its hinge to open it. 2. Install the batterie s as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and –) marked inside. 3. Replace the cov er .
11 Preparation Caution: If you do not plan to use the cassette player for a month or more, re- move the batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that can destroy electron ic parts.

Using AC or DC Power You can power the cassette player usin g a 3V, 300 mA AC or DC adapter and a size H Adaptaplug ® , (neither supplied).

14 Preparation 4. Plug the AC adapter into a standard AC outlet or the v ehicle's cigarette- lighter sock et. Note: If the cassette player does not operate when you turn it o n, remove the DC adapter from your vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket and check the socket for debris.
15 Preparation 2. Repeatedly press (or hol d down) HOUR until the display shows the correct hour . 3. Repeatedly press (or hold down ) MIN until the display shows the correct minute. 4. When the display shows the correct time, press MEMORY/CLOCK again, or wait until the d isplay stops flash- ing.

19 Using the Radio ˆ Using the Radio Important: Make sure you have connect- ed headphones or speakers to the cassette player. See “Co nnecting Head- phones or Amplified Speake rs” on Page 15. 1. Press RADIO ON/OFF to turn on the radio. 2. Adjust VOLUME to a comfortable lis- tening level.
20 Using the Radio Manual Tuning: Repeatedly press UP or DOWN to tune up or down the selected band. T o rapi dly tune the band, hold down UP or DOWN . Seek Tuning: Hold down UP or DOWN for about 1 seco nd. The cassette player tunes up or down the selected band, then stops at the next higher or lower station that has a strong signal.
21 Using the Radio • If FM stereo recepti on is poor or noisy , switch STEREO/MON O to MONO . The sound is not in stere o , but reception should improve. 5. Set BASS ON/O FF to ON for extra bass effect, or to OFF to leave the bass sound unchanged. 6.
22 Using the Radio 1. Press RA DIO ON/OFF to turn on the radio. 2. Repeatedly press BAND un til the dis- play shows the desir ed band ( AM or FM ). 3. T une to the first station you want to store. The display shows the fre- quency . 4. Press MEMOR Y/CLOCK .
23 Using the Radio button ( 1 – 5 ), then press MEMOR Y/ CLOCK again. MEMO d isappears. T o store stations into memory loca- tions 6–10, pr ess +5 , then one of the memory location buttons ( 1 – 5 ). For example, if you press +5 then 1 , the stereo stores the selected frequency into memory location 6 .
24 Using the Radio USING LOCK LOCK helps prevent you from accidental- ly turning the radio on or off, resetting th e clock time, or losing radio statio ns stored in memory. Press LOCK to activate this function. The lock icon appears. To deactivate the lock function, press LOCK again.
25 Using the Cassette Player ˆ Using the Cassette Player Important: Make sure that you have con- nected headphones or speakers to the cassette player. See “Co nnecting Head- phones or Amplified Speake rs” on Page 15. Caution: We do not recommend using C- 120 cassette tapes.

28 Using the Alarm ˆ Using the Alarm You can set the cassette pl ayer to auto- matically sound a beeping alarm at a time you select. 1. Press RADIO ON/OFF to turn off the radio. The display shows the time . 2. Press AL ARM . ALARM and the alarm time flas h.
29 Using the Alarm 4. Repeatedly press MIN until the dis- play shows the desired minute. 5. When the disp lay shows the desi red alarm time, wait until ALARM and the alarm time stop flashing to allo w the cassette player to store the setting. At the preset alarm time, the alarm beeps, even if a cassette or the radio is playing.
30 Care ˆ Care Keep the cassette player dry; if it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Use and store the cassette player on ly in normal temperature environmen ts. Handle the cassette player carefully; do not drop it. Keep the cassette player aw ay from dust and dirt, and wipe it with a damp cloth oc- casionally to keep it looking new.
31 Care CLEANING THE T APE- HANDLING PARTS Dirt, dust, or particles of the tape's coat- ing can accumulate on the tap e heads and other parts that the tape touches. This can greatly reduce th e performance of the cassette player. Follow these steps after every 20 h ours of operation.
32 Care 4. Use a cotton swab dippe d in dena- tured alcohol or tape hea d cleaning solution to clean the playba ck head, pinch roller , capstan, and tap e guides. 5. When you fi nish cleani ng, press and close the cassette compar tment door . Then reconnect power .
33 Care To restore the sound quality, fast-forwa rd the tape from the beginning to th e end of one side, then completely rewi nd it. Then loosen th e tape reels by gently tapp ing each side of the cassette's ou ter shell on a flat surface. Caution: Be careful not to damage the cassette when tapping it.
