9 MAINTENANC E SAFETY : Never work on m ower without safet y locks in place, if decks are i n raised position. Keep tractor and m ower in good operating condition an d all safety devices in place. Frequently check bla de mounting bolts for tightness.
10 OPERATING THE MOWER : A careful and knowle dgeable operator is th e best insurance a gainst an accident. Allow no ri ders on a ny equ ipment. If tractor is equipped w ith R.O.P.S., use the seat belt for m aximum protection. Make sure that everyone is clear of the trac tor and mower before starting the engine or operatin g.
11 HITCHING MOWER TO TRA CTOR : For proper mowe r operation and maxim um PTO life, the mower and PTO driveline must be setup correctly. a) Lower three point hitch arms on tractor and align them with the lower hitch links on both e nds of the hitch a ssem bly.

13 CUTTING HE IGHT A DJUST MENT : There are four heigh t adjusters per m owing deck. Each adjust er (located in eac h corner of the d eck) must be adjusted to the s ame height to ensure a sm ooth even cut.
14 TRANSPORTI NG MOW ERS : CAUTION - When traveling on public roa dways, use flashing amber lights a nd S.M.V. em blem o n rear o f mower to provide greater visibility to other traffic. WARNING - When towing this mower the followi ng information concerning road speed should be strictly adhered to.
15 An Important Wo rd On G rease C ompatibility What Grease Is: -Grease is essentiall y a distilled petroleum product in the form of miner al oil (or a synthetic) which has a thicke ning agent such as lithium, calciu m, barium, sodium, or aluminum.
16 LUBRICA TION : A properly maintained lubrication sc hedule will provide a smooth running machine for many years. The following inform ation shows and describes where all l ubrication points are located.
17 GEARBOX O IL L EVEL : IMPORTANT! DO NOT OVERFILL ! MOWER MUST BE LEVEL WHEN CHECKING GEARBOX OIL LEVEL DECK GEARBOX : Gear boxes all have an oil level plug located on the side of the gearbox.
18 MAINTENANC E : WARNING - Turn tractor engine off before performing any maintenance. CAUTION - Always use perso nal protection de vices such a s eye and ear protectors when performing maintenance functions. WARNING - When co m pleting a maintenance or service function, make sure all safety shields are installed before placing m ower in service.
19 BLADE REM OVAL AND INSTAL LATION : Two, 1 / 2 ” X 1 3 / 4 ” g r a d e 5 b o l t s w i t h l o c k washers and nuts hold blade to blade spindle su pport bar. W hen chang ing blades, be sure th at these f asteners are in good condition so they will not com e loose during operation.
20 SPINDLE INSP ECTION: Spindles are equipped with two roller ball bearings. Adjustm ent is set by t i g h t e n i n g t h e 1 ” l e f t h a n d n u t t o 6 0 f t -lbs . torque for proper setting. Periodically inspect blade spindles by grasping blade, and moving from side to side.
21 ASSEMBLY OF SPINDLE: Only use a press that has the ram and bed 100% square to each other . If bearings are not square in housing, bearings will wear out prematurel y. Press on outer race when insertin g into hub and press o n inner race when i nstalling on sp indle.
22 “ V ” B E L T A D J U S T M E N T : Begin by loosening 4 bolt s at the base of th e gearbox. Adjusting long threaded bolt slides the gearbox back, tightening belt. After proper t ension is a c h i e v e d , t i g h t e n 4 b o l t s a t b a s e o f g e a r b o x .
