3 13. Never move the walking belt while the power is turned off. Do not operate the treadmill if the power cord or plug is damaged, or if the treadmill is not working properly. (See BEFORE YOU BEGIN on page 4 if the tread- mill is not working properly.
4 Congratulations for purchasing the new PROFORM ¨ EKG treadmill. The PROFORM EKG treadmill com- bines advanced technology with innovative design to let you enjoy an excellent form of cardiovascular exer- cise in the convenience and privacy of your home.
5 ASSEMBL Y Assembly requires two people. Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Refer to the drawings below to identify the small parts used in assembly.
3. With the help of a second person, hold the Console Base (6) and the Right Handrail (32) near the right Upright (14) as shown. Route the Console Wire Harness (92) through the bracket on the Right Handrail. Refer to the inset drawing. Slide the Strain Relief Clip (88) onto the Console Wire Harness (92).
7 7. Thread a Handrail Bolt (15) with a Handrail Washer (16) into the right Upright (14) and the Right Handrail (32). Do not tighten the Handrail Bolt yet. Attach the lower end of the Right Handrail (32) to the Extension Leg (41) with a 3 1/2Ó Handrail Bolt (89), a 3/8Ó Washer (61), and a Flange Nut (57).
8 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PERFORMANT LUBE TM WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with PERFORMANT LUBE TM , a high-performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply silicone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking plat- form.
9 CONSOLE DIAGRAM Clip Key Displays Program Indicator Manual Indicator If there is a thin sheet of clear plastic on the face of the console, remove it. STEP-BY-STEP CONSOLE OPERATION The treadmill console features a manual mode and four workout programs.
10 Press the MODE button to select the desired mode. When the key is inserted, the manual mode will be selected, as shown by the MANUAL in- dicator. If a workout program has been selected, press the MODE button repeatedly to select the manual mode again.
11 Follow your progress with the four displays. DISTANCE dis- playÑThis display shows the total distance that you have walked or run. TIME/PULSE displayÑWhen the manual mode is selected, this display shows the elapsed time. When one of the preset programs is selected, the display will show the time remaining in the program.
HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Unplug the power cord. Caution: You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) in order to raise, lower, or move the treadmill. 1. Hold the treadmill with your hands in the locations shown at the right.
13 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Using your left thumb, press the storage latch and hold it. Pivot the treadmill until the frame and foot rail are past the storage latch. 2. Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands, and lower the treadmill to the floor.

PROBLEM: The walking belt slows when walked on SOLUTION: a. Use only a single-outlet surge suppressor that is UL 1449 listed as a transient voltage surge sup- pressor (TVSS). The surge suppressor must have a UL suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules.
16 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your ex- ercise program. RememberÑthese are general guide- lines. For more detailed information about exercise, obtain a book or consult your physician.
17 Cool-down Finish each workout with 5 to 10 minutes of stretching to cool down. This will increase the flexibility of your muscles and will help to prevent post-exercise problems. Exercise Frequency To maintain or improve your condition, complete three workouts each week, with at least one day of rest be- tween workouts.
