2 IMPORT ANT SAFETY INFORMA TION Keep the appliance area clear and free from combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids. 1. This appliance is only for use with the type of gas indicated on the rating plate. This appliance is not convertible fo r use with other gases.
3 PRODUCT FEA TURES SAFETY DEVICE A standard requirement for all vent-free room heaters. This heater has a pilot with an Oxygen Depletion Sensor(ODS) safety shutoff system. The ODS/pilot shuts off the heater if there is not enough fresh air. PIEZO IGNITION SYSTEM This heater is equipped with a piezo ignitor.
4 FRESH AIR FOR COMBUSTION AND VENTILA TION PRODUCING ADEQUA TE VENTILA TION The following are excerpts from National Fuel Gas Code. NFP A 54/ANS Z223.1, Section 5.3. Air for Combustion and V entilation. All spaces in homes fall into one of the three following ventilation classifications: 1.
5 W ARNING: Rework worksheet, add- ing the space of the adjoining unconfined space. The combined spaces must have enough fresh air to supply all appliances in both spaces. VENTILA TION AIR V entilation Air From Inside Building This fresh air would come from an adjoining unconfined space.
6 VENTILA TION AIR V entilation Air From Outdoors Provide extra fresh air by using ventilation grills or duels: Y ou must provide two permanent openings: one within 12 " of the ceiling and one within 12 " of the floor. Connect these items directly to the outdoors or spaces open to the outdoors.

9 INST ALLA TION CONNECTING TO GAS SUPPL Y W ARNING: A qualified service person must connect heater to gas supply. Follow all local codes. W ARNING: This appliance requires a 3/8 " NPT (National Pipe Thread) inlet connection to the pressure regulator.

14 TROUBLESHOOTING Note : All troubleshooting items are listed in order of operation. W ARNING: Only a qualified service person should service and repair heater. CAUTION: Never use a wire, needle, or similar object to clean ODS/pilot. This can damage ODS/pilot unit.
1 5 TROUBLESHOOTING Continued OBSERVED PROBLEM Burner(s)does not light after ODS/pilot is lit. Delayed ignition of burner(s). Burner backfiring during combustion. Y ellow flame during burner combustion. Slight smoke or odor during initial operation. Heater produces a whistling noise when burner is lit.
16 TROUBLESHOOTING Continued W ARNING: If you smell gas Shut off gas supply . Do not try to light any appliance. Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use any phone in your building. Immediately call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone.
