1-1 1 Introducing the Polycom QDX System Your POLYCOM® QDX™ 6000 is a state-of-the- art visual collabor ation tool. With crisp, clean v ideo and crystal-cl ear sound, Polycom QDX 6000 system provides natural video conferenc ing interaction through the mo st advanced video communications technology.

2-1 2 Networks This guide cove rs network types use d wo rldwide. Please note that not all the network types are ava ilable in all countr ies. Before you begin configuring the netwo rk options, you must make sure your network is ready for video conferencing.
Networks 2-2 Setting Description Subnet Mask Displays the subnet mask currently assigned to the system. If the system does not automa tically obtain a subnet mask, enter one here. Changing this setting causes the system to restart. Default Gateway Displays the gateway currently assigned to the system.

3-1 3 Monitors and Cameras Monitors You can connect up to two monitors to the Polycom QDX 6000 System. Monitor 1 shows the endpoint onscreen menu by default, and the user can use the remote control to make it show the far-site pictures, local pictures and content.

The meters also indicate p eak signal levels. Set signal lev els so that you see peaks between +3 dB and +7dB with normal speech and program material.

9-1 9 Managing the System Remotely You can configure, manage, and monito r the system from a comput er using the system’s Web interface. You can also use SNMP. The Polycom QDX 6000 Web Interfac e requi res only a Web browse r. SNMP requires network manageme nt software on your network management station.

Managing the System R emotely 9-4 Setting Up SNMP The Polycom QDX 6000 system sends Simple Networ k Management Protocol (SNMP) reports to indicate various cond itions. T o configure the Polycom Q DX 6000 system for SNMP management: 1 Access the SNMP configuration screen either in the Polycom QDX 6000 web interface or on the Polycom QDX 6000 system.

Accessing the Diagnostics Screens The Diagnostics screens are av ailable on the system and in the Polycom QDX 6000 web interface.

Statistics and Diagnostics 10-4 Audio Diagnostic Screen Description S peak er T est T ests the audio cable conn ecti ons. A 473 Hz audio tone indicates that the local audio conn ectio ns are correct. If you run the test from the system during a call, the far site will also hear the tone.

The system’s echo cancellation and noise suppression features may interfere with music that the microphone picks up.
