01 14 En Rear Panel 1 AUDIO OUT (7.1 ch) ter minals Connect with the multi-channel (7.1- o r 5.1-channel) audio input terminals on an AV receiver or amplifier, etc. (page 19). To connect to the 2-ch annel audio input terminals on a TV , etc., connect to FRONT (L /R) .
15 En 02 Chapter 2 Connecting up Be sure to turn off the power and un plug the power cord from the power outlet whenever making or changing connections. After connecting, make the settings at the Setup Naviga tor menu according to the type of cable connected (page 21).
02 16 En When connected to a DVI device • It is not possible to connect DVI devices (computer displays, for example) that are not co mpatible with HDCP. HDCP is a specification to protect audiovisual con tent across the DVI/ HDMI interface. • No audio signals are output.
17 En 02 Connecting an AV receiver or amplifier Connect to an AV receiver or amplifier in order to enjoy the surround sound of Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digi ta l Plus, Dolby Di gital, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Re solution Audio or DTS Digital Surround.
02 18 En Connecting video and audio cables Note • Make the settings in the Setup Navigator menu according to the type of cable connected (pag e 21). • To outp ut video signals from this player, co nnect using one o f the following (not inc luding when connected using a n HDMI cable): a component video cable, an S-Video cable or a video cable.
19 En 02 Connecting an AV receiver or amplifier using audio cables When conn ecting to a 7.1- channel comp atible AV rece iver or amplifie r – Connect using 4 audio cables (diagram below).
02 20 En Network connection The player’s software can be updated over the I nternet (page 52). Connect an Ethernet hub (or a router with hub fu nction alit y) that is connected to the Intern et to the player. Be sure to use a 100BASE-TX comp atible Ethernet hub or ro uter.
21 En 03 Chapter 3 Getting Started Making settings using the Setup Navigator menu Be sure to perform th ese settings when using the player for the first time. Caution • Before turning on the power, check that the connections between the player and o ther devices are correct.
03 22 En For steps 5 to 8, the step to which you should proceed depends on the combination of the Vi deo and Audio settings. 5 Select and set the HDMI High Sp eed Transmission setting for the HDMI OUT (M AIN) terminal. Use / to select, then press ENTER .

25 En 03 Switching the video output terminal to be viewed Use the procedure below to switch th e video output signal to be viewed between the one output from the HDMI OUT (MAIN) termina l, the HDMI O UT (SU B) terminal and an analog ou tput terminal ( COMPONENT VIDEO , S-VIDEO or VIDEO output term inals).
03 26 En About the output video resolution The resolution setting a nd the resolution of the picture that is actually output differ for th e different terminals.

04 28 En To resume normal playback Press PLAY. Playing specific ti tles, chapters or tracks Input the number of the title, chap ter or track you want to play. • Use the number buttons (0 to 9) to input th e number, then press ENTER .
29 En 04 Switching the camera angles For BD-ROM and DVD-Video disc s on which mu ltiple angles ar e recorded, the angles can be switched during playback. During pl ayback, press ANGLE. • The cu rrent angle and total n umber of recorded angles are displayed on the TV screen and o n the player’s front panel display.
04 30 En Switching the audio streams/ channels For discs or f iles on whic h multiple aud io streams/ch annels are recorded, audio streams/c hanne ls can be switched during playback. Also use this procedure to switch the secondary audio for BD-ROMs on which second ary audi o is recorded.
31 En 04 Using the Play Mode functions Playing from a specific time (Time Search) 1 During playb ack, press PLAY MODE to display the Play Mode screen. The Play Mode screen can also be displayed by sele cting Play Mode from the TOOLS menu. 2 Select T ime Search.

This setting is on ly valid for the AUDIO OUT (7.1 ch) terminals. Caution •T h e Speaker Setup cannot be selected when Audio Output Mode is set to 2 Channel .

49 En 06 Changing the Parental Lock level for viewing DVDs Some DVD-Video discs containing sc enes of violence, for example, have Parental Lock levels (check the indications on the disc’s jacket or elsewhere). To restrict viewing these discs, set the player’s level to the level lower than th e discs.
