1 Introduction Manual Overview This manual provides the important informati on you need to make full use of your new n avigation sys- tem. The beginning sections outlin e the navigation system and describe its basic operation. T he later sections describe the details of the navigation functi ons.
2 Basic Oper ation Please read this section if you want to operate the nav igation system immedi ately. It will explain the basics of this system. This section describes the basic operations for navigation. How to Read M ap Display This section describes how to read the map screen, and the method of changing map view or map scale.
3 Using the AV Sourc e (Music L ibrary) You can record a music CD to the hard disk drive in the navigation system. Thi s chapter describes recording music and playing back th e recorded music.
4 Terminology Before moving on, take a few minutes to read the following in formation about the conventions u sed in this manual. They will h elp you greatly as you learn how to u se your new equipment. • Hardware buttons on your navigation sy stem are described in ALL CAPITAL , BOLD lettering: e.

33 Chapter 2 Basic Op erat ion NAVI ❒ The system may calculate a route that includes freeway even if [ On ] is selected. Learning Route The system learns the travel history of each road and directional tendency. This setting controls whether or not the travel his- tory should be taken into account.
34 Chapter 2 Basic Operation NAVI 3 Touch the screen and place the scroll cur- sor on the point whose detail or entire pic- ture you want to view. Or zoom in or zoom out the map scale. The map around the scroll cursor is zoomed in or out so you can view the detail or the entir e picture.

You n eed to get to know how the information appears on the map. Switching the view mode There are five types of map display and two addi- tional view modes.

Please beware that in this setting, camera image is not resized to fit to screen, and that a portion of camera image may not be viewable.

To enable these functions, you must stop in a safe place and put on the parking brake before setting your route (see page 18 Interlock for details).
46 Chapter 4 Modifying Map Configurations NAVI 2D*: Displays the 2D map. 3D: Displays the 3D map. Show Mute Button Selects whether to display or hide the voice guidance mute key on the map. View*: Displays the voice guidance mu te on the map. Hide: Hides the voice guidance mute key from the map.
47 Chapter 4 Modifying Map Configurations NAVI Selecting the Shortcut Select shortcuts to display on th e map screen. In the list displayed onscreen, the items with red checks are displayed on the map screen. Touch the shortcut you want to display and then touch [ OK ] when a red check appears.

To enable these func- tions, you must stop in a safe place and put on the parking brake before setting your route.
52 Chapter 5 Setting a Route to Your Destination NAVI [Back]: Return the Destination menu. 5 Touch the detailed category. 6 Input the name of the facilities. [City] : Touch to specify the destination city or area, and then input the city name. (Th is is available only when [ Name ] is blank.
53 Chapter 5 Setting a Route to Your Destination NAVI A list of cities that inclu de the entered charac- ter appears. [List]: Lists candidate based on yellow characters in the text box (suggested character in white is invalid). Touch the desired city in the list to proceed to the next step.

(1) Home location: The item displayed with icon is the home location. When you touch this, the route is cal- culated, and the route guidance screen appears.

The navigation system waits for a Bluetooth wireless technology connection. 14 Operate your cellular phone to register the navigation system. If your cellular phone asks you to enter a pass- word, enter the password of the navigation system.
