User Manual CS-114A Read this guide thoroughly and follow the installation and operation proce- dures carefully in order to prevent any damage to the units and/or any de- vices that connect to them. Overview The Master View CS-114A 4 Port KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse), Switch is a control unit that allows acces s to four computer systems from a single PS/2 keyboard, PS/2 mous e, and monitor console in a cost effecti ve manner.
Hardware Requirements Console M One VGA, SVGA , or Multisync moni tor capable of the highes t resolution that you wi ll be using on any PC i n the installati on M One PS/2 Mouse M One PS/2 Style K eyboard Computers The following equipment must be ins talled on each PC that is to be connected to the system: M A VGA, SVGA or Multisync card.
Introduction Front View 1. On Line and Selected LEDs: M When an On Line LED is lit, it indi cates that the computer at- tached to the corresponding port i s up and running. M When a Selected LED i s lit, it indi cates that the port it corre- sponds to is the currentl y selected port.

Installation Before You Begin Single Stage Installation The most basic installati on is a Single Stage ins tallation, in whi ch no additional Mas ter View ’ s are dai sy chained down from the first uni t. The Master View CS-114A design also allows additional uni ts to be dai sy chained down to two or three levels.
Two Stage Installation To control even more computers, up to four additi onal Master View CS-114A units can be cas caded from the CPU ports of the First Stage unit. The cascaded Master V iews that connect back to the First S tage unit are considered Second Stage units .
Three Stage Installation The procedures for setting up a three stage ins tallation are essenti ally the same as for a two stage installation. With a three stage setup, however, as many as 64 c omputers can be control led in a compl ete installati on. Note: Master View units cannot be cascaded bey ond the third level .
Operation Powering Off and Restarting If it becomes necessary to Power Off one of the Master View units , before starting it back up you mus t do the following: 1. Shut down all the computers that are attac hed to it. If the unit is operating under external power, unplug the power adapter c able.
Hotkey Port Selection Hotkey Port Selection allows you to select the acti ve computer directly from the keyboard. The Master View CS-114A prov ides the following Hotkey Port S election features: M Sel.
To access a computer attached to a Second S tage unit, key in a two di git number for the Port ID (press and release eac h number separatel y). The first digit represents the CPU Port number (1 - 4), .
M Last/Next Mode: Last/Next mode enables you to easily switc h from the currently active computer to the previous or next avai lable computer in the instal lation. There are two methods of invoking Last/Nex t Mode: Basic Mode, and Quick Mode.The choice of mode is made with DIP Switch 4.
