10 Introduction and Installation Before inst allation T o avoid a malfun ction or communication disturba nce, do not install the monitor station in the following locations: – Places where vibration or any other kind of impact occurs. – Places where echoing is fre quent.
11 Introduction and Installation Wiring schematic diagram Note: L This door opener wiring schematic diagram is only an example. Refer to the wiring instructions provided with your door opener and PBX for details. L Refer to the technical data on page 30 when connecting to a door opener .
12 Introduction and Installation Inst alling the monitor st ation Note: L When connecting to a PBX, make sure the { PBX MODE } switch is set to { ON } before installing the monitor station (page 20). 1 Install the mounting bracket to a wall using the wood screws (4 mm x 16 mm, 3 / 16 " x 5 / 8 ").
13 Introduction and Installation 3 Attach the wires that connect to the door station to the terminal. See page 18 for detai ls on how to attach the wires.
14 Introduction and Installation 4 Mount the monitor station to the mounting bracket. Push the monitor station down until it is secure. 5 Take out the AC adaptor and the DC terminal from the ca se. L Push the arrow mark on the front case, then release from the rear case.
15 Introduction and Installation 6 Connect the power cable to the DC terminal, the power cord to the AC adapto r, then connect the pow er cord to the AC outlet (100 V – 240 V, 50 Hz / 60 Hz). L Be sure to connect the power cable to the 2 holes on the left side of the DC terminal.
16 Introduction and Installation T o attach the AC adaptor and the DC terminal to a wall By placing the AC adaptor and the DC terminal in the case a nd mounting the case to the wall, you can protect the AC adaptor and the DC termin al from tampering and exposure.
17 Introduction and Installation 3 Attach the front of the case. Note: L T o op en the case again, push the botto m of the front case, then releas e from the rear case.
18 Introduction and Installation T o attach the power cable L While pressing on the button with a pointed objec t such as a screwdriver , insert the power cable into the terminal conn ector . L T o discon nect the power cable, pre s s on the button while pulling out.
19 Introduction and Installation Using the desktop st and (Optional) Y ou can place the mon itor station on a desktop. See page 7 for optiona l item informa tion.
20 Using the Unit Tu r n i n g { PBX MODE } switch ON/OFF When connecting to a PBX (page 22), turn { PBX MODE } switch on. If not, turn { PBX MODE } switch off. The default setting is { ON } . 1 Remove the switch cover from th e rear of the monitor station.

22 Using the Unit Connecting to a PBX Connecting to a PBX allows you to answer door calls fr om an y telephone. See page 1 1 for wiring information. Please use only a Panasoni c PBX. See page 7 for the PBX model list that is compatible and other optional h ardware.
23 Using the Unit Answering a door call us ing the monitor st ation There are 3 ways to a nswer a door call using th e monitor station. Choose the desired mode by changing the { ANSWER } switch p osition. Import ant: L When speaking with a caller , speak in turns.
24 Using the Unit { PUSH } mode (Push to t alk mode) 1 When a call is received from the door station, press { TA L K } . 2 Speak to the visitor. 3 To end the conversation, press { TA L K } . L The display will turn off. { AUTO } mode (Auto t alk mode) This mode allows you to answer the call by vo ice.
25 Using the Unit Note: L Speak clearly about 50 cm (20 inches) away from the micropho ne. L While the display is on, you can press { BRIGHT } repeatedly to select the desired brightness. If a power failure occurs, the brightness setting will be reset.
26 Using the Unit Monitoring the out side Y ou can monitor the sound and camera image from the door station for up to 1 minute at a time. 1 Press { MONITOR } . L The outside image will be shown o n the display , and th e outside sound will be heard. T he inside sound will not be heard at the door station.
27 Using the Unit Opening a door (door opener) Y ou can open the door using the monitor station (a separate door opener is required). 1 While the display is on, press and hold { DOOR } . L The door will remain open whi le { DOOR } is pressed. Note: L See page 1 1 for wiring information.
28 Help T roubleshooting Problem Cause and so lution The display is not clear or is blurry. L The surface of the door stat ion is dirty . Clean it with a soft dry cloth. L The surface of the door station is wet with dew . Wait for the condensation to evaporate.
29 Help Cleaning Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth when cleaning. For excessive dirt, wipe the unit with a slightly damp cloth. Important information: L Do not use anything containing alcohol, polis h powder , powder soap, benzine, thinne r , wax, petroleum, or boiling water .
