6 - E NGLISH Preparation Precautions with regard to safety If you notice s moke, strange sme lls or noise coming from the projecto r, disconnect the power c ord plug from the wall outlet. Do not continue to use the projector in such cases, otherwise fir e or electric sh ocks could re sult.
Precautions with regard to safety E NGLISH - 7 Preparation During a thunderstorm, do not touch the projector or the cable. Electric shocks can result. Do not use the projector in a bath or shower. Fire or electric shocks can result. Do not place your skin into t he light beam while the projector is being used.

Do not touch the sur faces of the lens with your bare hands.

About Your Projector 12 - E NGLISH Preparation J Top and front view Projector NOTE: Do not cover the ventilation openings or place anythi ng within 50 cm (20") of them as this may cause damage or in jury . While the projector is not in use, att ach the Lens cover to protect the lens.

Switching the projector on/off 20 - E NGLISH Basic Operation 1. Switch the MAIN POWER on. The power indicator light s up in RED . 2. Remove the Lens cov er from the lens. 3. Press the POWER button. The power in dicator lights up in GREEN after flashing for a while.
E NGLISH - 21 Basic Operation Projecting an image 1. Switch on the connected devices. Press the play button of the requi red device. 2. Press the INPUT button to select the requ ired input method if neede d. See "Switching the inpu t signal" on page 23.
22 - E NGLISH Basic Operation Remote control operation You can operate the projector with the Remote control within the remote ran ge 7 m. Q Facing to the projector Ensure the Remote control emitter is facing to the Remote control sign al receptor on front of the projector an d press the required bu ttons to operate.
Remote control operation E NGLISH - 23 Basic Operation You can switch the input method manually by pressing the INPUT button. Pre ss the button sev eral times or press I H to cycle through the input meth ods as follows. The actual projected imag e will be changed in a while.
Remote control operation 24 - E NGLISH Basic Operation You can monito r if the brightness and contrast level of the input signal is in the recommended r ange by disp laying it in the waveform monitor. See "WAVEFORM MONITOR" on page 32. 1. Project a comme rcial adjusting signal.

E NGLISH - 31 Settings PICTURE Menu Depending on th e projection enviro nment, you can use these pres et parame ter settings to optimise ima ge projection. Press I H to cycle thro ugh the options . You can adjust the contrast of the projected image. Adjust the BRIGHTNESS in advance if necessary.
PICTURE Menu 32 - E NGLISH Settings You can switch automatic adjustment of the lamp an d the lens iris on/off. • ON : Automatic adjustment • OFF : No adjustment You can monitor whether or not the luminance level of the input signal is in the recommended range by displaying it in th e waveform monitor.
PICTURE Menu E NGLISH - 33 Settings J MPEG NR You can switch the autom atic noise reduction system for MPEG format images on/off. The system minimizes block no ise and mosquito no ise to eliminate jagged edges, providing an overall smoother image. Press I H to select the re quired setting.
34 - E NGLISH Settings POSITION Menu You can move the proje cted image horizontally for fine adjustment. You can move the projected ima ge vertically for fine adjustment. If you have interference patterns on the proj ected image, which is sometimes referred to as moire or noise, you can mini mize it by pressing I H to adjust the clock frequency.
POSITION Menu E NGLISH - 35 Settings You can switch the aspect ratio manu ally when needed. J Aspect ratio options and projection example If you apply the aspect ratio options to the projected im age, the result will be as follows. The result may differ due to the input signals.
POSITION Menu 36 - E NGLISH Settings J Aspect ratio depend on signals Press I H to cycle through the aspect ratio options. The cycle pattern depends on the connected sign als.
E NGLISH - 37 Settings LENS CONTROL Menu You can use the 2 different test patterns to adjust the focu s and zoo m of the image. See “Lens shift and p ositioning” on page 16. 1. Press ENTER to display test pattern 1. Press F G to adjus t the focus an d I H to adjust the zoom.
38 - E NGLISH Settings OPTION Menu When you press INPUT or the INPUT SELECT button to change the input method, the guidance appears in the upper right corner of the screen. The following display methods are available. Press I H to cycle thro ugh the options.
OPTION Menu E NGLISH - 39 Settings When installing th e projector, select the projection method accord ing to the projector position. Pre ss I H to cycle through the options. See “Projection method” on page 15. You can select the required duration of time and set the off timer to turn off the POWER of the proje ctor automatically.
40 - E NGLISH Maintenance TEMP and LAMP Indicators If a problem should occur with the projector, the TEMP and/or LAMP indicators will alert you. Respond to the alert as follows. 1. Confirm the POWER indicator status an d turn off the proje ctor in the pr oper way .
