Preparation 17 Setting the date and time Set the date and time so that the unit will announce the da y and time each message was recorded by the answering system (page 42) when you pl ay back messa ges. 1 Press { MENU } . 2 Scroll to “ Date and time ” by pressing {V} or {^} , then press { > } or { Select } .

Making/Answering Calls 21 Clarity booster This feature can improve sound cl arity when the handset is used in an area where there may be interference. During an outside call, this feature will be turned on automatically when necessary . This feature will turn off when you hang up or put a call on hold.
Making/Answering Ca lls 22 For Call W aiting service us ers T o use Call W aiting, you must subscribe to your telephone company’ s Call W aiting service. This feature allo ws you to receive calls while you are alread y talking on the phone. If you receive a call while on the phone, you will hear a Call W aiting to ne.
Phonebook 23 Using the phonebook The handset phone book allows you to make calls without having to dial manuall y . Y ou can add 50 names and phon e numbers to the handset ph onebook and search for phoneboo k entries by na me. Adding items to the phonebook 1 Press { Phonebook } .
Phonebook 24 Character table The dial keys can be used to ente r characters. T o enter a character , press the appropriate dial key , repeatedly if necessary . T o enter another character that is located on the same dia l key , first press { > } to move the cursor to the next sp ace.

Caller ID Service 28 Caller list Caller information for the last 50 different callers will be l ogged in the caller l ist. Y o u can use this list to return missed calls. L Caller informa tion includes phone numbers, the date and time of calls, a nd the number of times each caller called.

Intercom Feat ures 31 For KX-TG2432NZ users Call the desired unit by selectin g the extension number , shown in the upper right of each handset’ s display . The base unit’s extension number is 0. L T o confirm the handset’s extension number ( [1] or [2] ), place th e handset on the base unit or charg er .
Intercom Fea tures 32 T ransferring a call (KX- TG2432NZ only) Outside calls can be transferred from one handset to the other . 1 During an outside call, press { INTERCOM } . L The call will be put on h old. 2 To page the other handset, press { handset [1] } or { hand set[2] } .
Programmable Settings 33 Guide to handset programming For your reference, a chart of all programmable functio ns is printed below . Details for each item can be found on the corresponding pages.
Programmable Settings 34 L T o go ba ck to the previous menu , press { < } or { Back } , or press { > } or { Select } while “ (Go back) ” is displayed. Ringer settings Handset ringer volume 4 levels (high/medium/low/o ff) are available. The default setting is HIGH.

Programmable Settings 37 T elephone settings Recall time The recall time depe nds on your telephone exchange or host PBX. Y ou can select: “ 90ms ” (milliseconds), “ 100ms ”, “ 110ms ”, “ 250ms ”, “ 300m s ”, “ 400ms ”, “ 600ms ” (default), or “ 700ms ”.
Programmable Settings 38 Other options Dial lock This feature prohibits ma king outside calls. The default setting is OFF . Important: L When dial lock is turned on, only phone numbers stored in the phonebo ok as emergency numb ers (numbers stored with a # at the beginning of the name ) can be d ialled using the phonebook (p age 23).

Answering System Features 42 Answering system The unit contains an answering system which can answer and record calls for yo u when you are unavailable to a nswer the phone. For details about memory capacity , see page 46. Important: L Only 1 person can acce ss the answering system (listen to messages, record a greeting message, etc.
Answering System Feature s 43 T o play back the greeting mess age Press { GREETING CHECK } . Erasing your greeting message Press { GREETING CHECK } , and then press { ERASE } while your greeting message is playing. L If you do not re-record your greeting message, the u nit will use a pre- recorded greeting message.
Answering System Features 44 Listening to messages When new messages have been recorded: – The MESSAGE indicator on the base unit will flash. – The message indi cator on the handset will flash slowly if the message alert featur e is turned on (p age 50).

Answering System Feature s 47 Remote operation Using a touch tone phone, you can call your phone number from outside and access the unit to listen to messages. The unit’s voice guidance will prompt you to press certain dial keys to perform different operati ons.
