18 Setting up Battery Charge At the time of shipment, the batteries are not charged. To charge, place the cordless handset on the charger. Please charge the batteries for about 7 hours before initial use. During charging, the charge LED will light as shown below.
19 Preparation Setting up Replacing the Batteries If the icon flashes after a few telephone calls even when the cordless handset batteries have been fully charged, both batteries must be replaced. • Charge new batteries for approximately 7 hours before initial use.

25 Telephone System Using the Te lephone Receiver (or Headset Receiver )/Speaker Volume The choices for the receiver (or headset receiver) v olume are 3 levels, and 6 levels for the speakerphone volume. • The factory preset is medium (receiver volume) and level 3 (speaker volume).
26 Using the T elephone Speakerphone allows you to talk to your caller without holding the hands et and allows other persons in the room to listen to the conversation. • For best performance, please note the following: - Talk alternately with the caller in a quiet environment.

82 Multi-Unit U ser Operations Intercom Between Registered Unit s You can use your cordless handsets and base unit as a 2-way intercom . Intercom calls can be co nducted with in th e radio cell of th e current base unit, but not with un its in neighbouring radio cells.

84 Multi-Unit U ser Operations T ransferring a Call to Another Registered Unit The intercom can be used during a call to transfer an external call between registered units.

87 Telephone System Walkie-Talkie The Walkie-Talkie feature allows cord less handset s to communicate with each other outside th e range of the base unit. When the cordless hand sets are in Walkie-Talkie mode, external calls cannot be received. Only KX-TCA151AZ and KX-TCA154AZ with Walkie-Talkie f eatur e can communicate w ith one another.

89 Telephone System Walkie-Talkie Turning the Walkie-Talki e Mode ON/OFF To use the Walkie-Talkie feature, all cordles s handsets in conversation must be in Walkie-Talkie mode.
90 Answering System If you set the current date and time (p. 22) and set the answering system ON, a synthesized voice announce the date and time an/a i ncoming/memo message was recorded after playback- Voice Date/Time Stamp . The total recording capacity is approximately 30 minut es or 64 messages.
91 Answering System Answering System Greeting Message Playing Ba ck Pre-R ecorded/Yo ur Own Gr eeting Me ssage If you do not record your own greeting message, one of two pre-recorded greeting messages will be play ed. A pre-recorded greeting message depends on the selecting of same phone caller’s recording time.

We recommend you erase unnecessary messages after each playback to leave more time for recording new message(s).
