2 Before Initial Use Thank you for purc hasing your new Panasonic digit al cordless telephone. Dear purchaser, You have acquired a KX-TCD450NZ, which is a product made i n regard with the Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommuni cations (DECT).
3 Preparation Important Information Only use the power supply included with the product. Do not connect the AC Adaptor to any AC outlet other than the standard AC230 V.
4 Setting up Connection Plug in the AC adaptor and the telephone li ne cord in order 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 . • Never i nstal l t elephone wir ing duri ng a li ghtni ng stor m. Batte ry Installa tion Please ensure the batteries are inserted as shown. part should be inserted first.
5 Preparation Setting up Battery Charge At the time of shipment, the batteries are not charged. To charge, place the handset on the bas e unit. Please charge the batteries for abou t 7 hours before initial use. During charging, the battery icon is as shown below.
6 Setting up Symbols Used i n This Op erating Instructions Replacing the Batteries If the icon fl ashes after a few telephone c alls even when the hands et batteries have been fully charged, both batteries must be replaced. Charge new batteries for ap proximately 7 hours before initial use.

9 Cordless Telephone Using the Te lephone Answering a Call Terminating a Call *1 You can al so answer a call by pressing a dialling button, INTERCO M , t , x or SPEAKERPHONE . Auto Talk If you set Auto Talk to on, you can answer the phone by lifting the handset off the base unit.

12 Caller ID Call er ID Service Caller ID is a service of your Networ k provider and will only operate if you have subscribed to this feature. After subscribing to Caller ID, th is phone will display the c aller information. If your unit is connected to a PBX or a tel ephone line that does not support this servic e, you will not be able to use it.
13 Cordless Telephone Caller ID Call er ID Displa y When receiving a call, the d is play shows the call er’s phone number. For example, a caller whose phone number is 0123456789 has been received. If you store a phone number with a name in the phonebook, the display als o shows caller’s name when receiving a call.
14 Caller ID Call er ID Lis t Information from up to 50 different callers is stored from the m os t recent call to the ol des t call in the caller list.
15 Cordless Telephone Caller ID Clearing One/ All Received Item(s) in the Calle r List • To exit the operation, press any time. *1 If there is no item stored in the c aller list, the display shows "N o Stored Me mory" . When you answer a call, the caller information is stored in the li st with a "" next to it.
16 Phonebook You can store information from up to 200 callers in the phonebook. If you subscribe to caller ID and you receive a call from the same phone number you stored with a name in the phonebook, the display will s how the caller’s nam e. Private Category Feature You can categorise caller information in the phone book .
17 Cordless Telephone Phonebook To change the Char acter Mode You can select one of 6 character modes by pressing PHONEBOOK while enterin g a name. The factory preset is “ABC”.

23 Cordless Telephone Phonebook Phonebook Copy You can copy phonebook information between handsets registered to the same base unit. The phonebook copy must be performed while in intercom mode. To Copy an item/All items in the Phonebook For example, Handset 2 is copying an i tem from its phonebook to Handset 1.
24 Handset Setti ngs Time A larm You must set the clock before setting the time alarm. Setting Alarm Time Setting Time Alarm On/Off • To exit the operation, press any time. To stop the time alarm: Time alarm will sound for 3 minutes. When the alarm sounds, press a dialling button, TALK , t , x or SPEAKERPHONE .
25 Cordless Telephone Handset Sett ings Ringer Optio n Setting the Ringer Volume The choices are 6 levels and off. • If "OFF" is select ed, "Rin g Off" is disp layed. Setting the Ringer Pattern for External Call/I nternal Call/Paging/Alarm There are 20 patterns available on each ringer.
26 Handset Setti ngs Tone Option You can set the following sounds on or off. Key Tone: A key tone will sound when you press any key, and a confirmation tone and an error tone will be heard during operation. Call Waiting Tone: A call waiting tone will sound when an incom ing external call is received during an intercom call.

29 Cordless Telephone Handset Sett ings Key Lock You can lock the handset dial ling buttons. Only inc oming calls are accepted while the key lock is on. The key lock is cancelled when the hands et is turned off. When the key lock is on, emergency cal ls cannot b e made until key lock is cancelled.
30 Base Unit Settings Changing Base Unit PIN The factory preset is 0000. Once you have prog rammed the base unit PIN, you cannot confirm it. We recommend you write down the base unit PIN. If you forget it, please consult your nearest Panasonic Service Centre.
31 Cordless Telephone Base Unit Settings Cancelling Call Re stricted Number Selecting the Flash Timing You can select the flash timing, 100 msec (millise conds), or 600 msec depending on your PBX requirements. Pause Timing You can set the pause tim e to 3 or 5 seconds, depending on your PBX r equirements.
