3 Preparation Preparat ion Accessory information Thank you for pu rchasing a ne w Panasonic di gital cordless phone. Dear Purchaser, You have acquired a product made in co mp liance with the digital enha nced cordless telecommunications (DECT) standard.
4 Preparation Important information General L Use only the power supply included with this product, noted on page 3. L Do not connect the AC adaptor to any AC outlet other than a standard 220–240 V AC outlet. L This product is u nable to make cal ls when: − The portable handset batteries need recharging or have failed.

7 Preparation Battery charge Place the handset on the base un it for about 7 hours before i nitial use. Note: L Clean the charge contacts of the handse t and base unit with a soft, dry cloth once a month, otherwise t he batteries may not charge properly.
8 Preparation Battery replacement If 0 7 4 flashes even when the handset batteries have been fully charged, bo th batteries must be replaced. Important: L Please use only the Panasonic batteries, noted on page 3. L Use only rechargeable batteries. If you install non-rechargeable batteries and start charging, the batteries ma y leak electrolyte.
9 Preparation Setting the time and date Important: L Confirm that the AC adaptor is connected. L Ensure that w is not flashing. 1 Press {j} . 2 Press {v} repeatedly to display “ SETTING BS ”, then press {>} . 3 Press {*} . 4 Enter the current hour and minute by selecting 2 digits for each (24-hour ti me entry).
10 Telephone Telephone Making calls 1 Lift the handset and dial the phone number. L To correct a digit, press { C/ T } , then enter the correct number. 2 Press {C} . 3 When finished talking, press {ih} or place the handset on the base uni t. Speakerphone The handset features a digital speakerphone, which allows you to have hands-free conversations.

12 Telephone Recording a tele phone conversation (KX-TCD445 only) You can record your conversation while on an outside call. Important: L All persons using this device for recording telephone conversations shall comply with New Zealand law. This re quires that at least one party to the conversation is to be aware that it is being recorded.
13 Telephone Phonebook Storing phone numbers and names Up to 20 phone numbers can be stored in the phonebook for quick access. 1 Press {j} 2 times. 2 Enter a phone number (24 digits max.). L Each number stored in the phonebook will be given an i ndex number (01–20).

15 Telephone Caller ID service Important: L This unit is Caller ID compatible. To display the calle r’s phone number, you must subscribe to Call er ID service. After subscribing to Caller ID service, this unit will display caller information. For all local and nati onal incoming calls, your display will show the area code (e.

18 Useful Telephone Settings Handset settings Time alarm An alarm will sound for 3 minutes at the set time once or daily. “ ONCE ”: The alarm will ring only once. “ REPEAT DAILY ”: The alarm will ring at the set time ev eryday. “ OFF ”: Turns this feature off.

25 Answering System Features (KX-TCD445 only ) Answering Syst em Feature s (KX-TCD445 on ly) Answering system The KX-TCD445 base unit co ntains an answering system which can answer and record calls for you when you are unavailable to answer the phone.
26 Answering System Features (KX-TCD445 only) Erasing the greeting message 1 Press { INT } . L The handset number will be displayed. 2 Press {#} . 3 After the beep, press { 6 } . 4 Press {*} . 5 Press { 6 } . 6 Press {ih} . Note: L If you erase your own greeting message, the unit will play a prerecorded greeti ng message for callers.
27 Answering System Features (KX-TCD445 only ) Memory capacity The total recording capa city (including yo ur greeting message, caller messages, voice memos, and recorded conversations) is about 20 minutes. A maximum of 64 messages can be recorded. L If message memory becomes full, r flashes rapidly.

33 Multi-unit Operation Intercom between handsets You can make i ntercom calls between 2 handsets in the same radio cell. Example: When handset 1 cal ls handset 2 1 Handset 1: Press { INT } and { 2 } (desired handset number). 2 Handset 2: Press {C} or {s} to answer.
