4 Using the Touch Pad In this s ection, i llustrati ons of the CF-C1 Se ries are used as e xamples. Use the T ouch Pad to move the cursor on the scre en and per form com puter ope rations.
5 Using the Touch Pad NOTE Y ou can ch ange the s peed of the double -clic k or the operatio ns of mous e buttons by cli cking (S tart) - [Control Panel] - [Hardwa re and Sou nd] - [M ouse]/ [start] - [Co ntrol Pane l] - [P rinter and Other Hardwar e] - [Mouse].
6 Using the Touch Pad Using the T ouch Pad Utility Y ou can scr oll eas ily by tra cing a cir cle on th e T ouch Pad. NOTE Externa l mouse d rivers cannot be used a t the sa me tim e as the T ouch Pad utility . 1 Make the following settings to use the horizont al scr oll.

29 Software Keyboard <Only for CF-C1 Se ries> Y ou can use th e Software Keyboar d instea d of the on- screen k eyboard of T able t PC Inp ut Pane l. By usin g the So ftware Keyboar d, you can cha nge the si ze of the Software K eyboa rd, and c an use the numeric keypad.

31 Software Keyboard T o start the Software Key board usi ng the table t button, pr oceed as follows . 1 Open the Dashb oard for CF-C 1. Press (USER) butto n. 2 Click [Change se ttings] in [T ablet buttons]. The [T able t PC Se ttings] / [T abl et and Pen Settings ] scree n appears.
32 Hand Writing Utility <Only for CF-C1 Se ries> Y ou can make a bitmap fi le (.bmp) of a sim ple charac ter and a figure suc h as signat ure by ha ndwritin g on the touch pad and the scr een. CAUTION Do not use the Fast User Swi tching fu nction wh ile Hand Wri ting Utilit y is acti ve.
33 Dashboard for CF-C1 <Only for CF-C1 Se ries> Y ou can perfo rm the fol lowin g operations easily by usi ng the Dash board for CF-C1. 1 Open the Dashb oard for CF-C 1.

38 Battery Power NOTE Once t he batt ery is fully c harged, the com puter performs rechar ging on ly when the r emainin g batt ery pow er beco mes less t han ap proxim ately 95 % (75% when the batter y’s Economy Mode ( ECO) is ena bled), s o over charging is av oided.
39 Battery Power <CF-F9/CF-S9 Se ries> T o check the remaining battery power and remainin g time using the Windows Battery Meter (Windows Power Meter) (Af ter loggin g on to Windows) Click or on the notification area . Double-click on the notification area wh en the AC adaptor i s not connected.

50 Customizing the Power Setting Y ou can save power by turn ing off device s not in use or by dar kening th e screen. Also, by usin g the power pla ns prepared for this com puter befo rehand, y ou ca n easily make necess ary se ttings all at once s uitable fo r each spe cific s cene to save po wer .
51 Customizing the Power Setting 8 power plans hav e been prepared. Y ou can switch among the po wer plans (c ombinations of power savi ng settings ) accordi ng to eac h scene such as outdoor , presentation, etc. Also, you can set each power saving function i n detail which consti tutes the power p lans.

55 Customizing the Power Setting Switching Power Plan Extension Utility manually Y ou can manu ally swi tch the fan co ntrol mod e, the opti cal disc drive’s power (fo r CF-F9/C F-S9 S eries), and the battery ’s Eco Mode (ECO).

69 CD/DVD Drive While th e drive is being a ccessed Do not open the dr ive or mov e the com puter whi le the d rive is bein g acces sed. Doing so could cause th e disc t o shift positio n and th is may d amage t he disc, or caus e the drive to mal function.
70 CD/DVD Drive When you are not u sing the C D/DVD d rive, you can turn the dr ive pow er off to minimize power cons umption. When you want to minimize power consumption (example) Set [Opti cal Drive P ower] in the S etup Utility to [Off]. ( page 150 ) The driv e power r emains o ff when the c omputer i s started up.
71 CD/DVD Drive T urn ing o n or o ff im media tely There are two methods , as fol lows. Slide th e drive power/ope n swit ch (A) to t he left. • Each time you slide the switc h, you wi ll hear a beep and the dr ive power wi ll turn on or off.
72 CD/DVD Drive • The [Op tical Dr ive] in t he [Advan ced] menu of the S etup Utili ty is set to [Disable d]. In th is case , you can not us e the Optical Disc Driv e Power -Saving Uti lity or the drive power/open switch.

80 WinDVD Do not ins tall another player so ftware together with Wi nDVD. Doing so may inter fere wit h smooth p layback . Some DV D-Video discs c ontain the pla yer softwar e and start ins talling. In this ca se, ca ncel the installatio n as soon as po ssible .

83 Writing to CD/DVD When an external CD/DVD drive has been connected Do not turn the CD/D VD drive po wer off on this computer when writin g to a disc in an exte rnal CD/DVD dr ive. T urning the power off may result i n a malf unction , such as an in terruption in the external CD/D VD driv e operation.
