5 PREPARATION INSTALLING BATTERIES Your SCR-10 0 requires two AA bat teries (not su p- plied) for power. For the best performanc e and long- est life , we reco mmend Radi oShack al kaline batt eri es. Cautions: • Use only fres h batteries of the re quired s ize and recomm ended ty pe.

7 Cautions: Y o u must use a Cl ass 2 power sour ce that supp lies 3V AC and del ivers at least 300 mA. Its cente r tip must b e set to posi tive and its plu g must fi t the SCR-10 0's DC 3V jack. Us ing an adapter that do es not meet t hese specifi cations could damage the SCR-100 or the adap ter .

13 OPERATION LOADING A CASSETTE T AP E Follow these steps to load a casset te to rec ord or play . 1. T a ke up any s lack in the cassette ta pe by turnin g the hu b with a pencil to preve nt t he t ape from becom ing tangle d in the tape mechanis m. Do n ot touch t he tape.
14 RECORDING Using the Bui lt-in Stereo Mi crophone 1. With a bl ank tape loaded, se t T AP E SPEED as follow s. • T o maximiz e sound quali ty , set the switc h to NORMAL . • T o increase the re cording ti me (using a some- what lower sound qu a lit y leve l), set t he swi tch to SL OW .

16 PLAYING A T APE 1. For m ono pla yback, simply listen to the built-in speake r . The SCR-100 combine s the left an d right chan nels. For stere o playback, conn ect the SCR-10 0 to a pair of stereo head phones or an amplifi ed speake r system (see “Con necting Headph ones/Spea kers” on Pa ge 10).

18 Note: If you pres s e ith er F AST-F/CUE or REW/REVIEW while the tape plays, you hear the sound as the tape moves. This lets you qui ckly lo cate spec ific par ts of the tape. Rele ase F AS T-F/CUE or REW/REVIEW to re- sume pl ay . Press STOP to stop playb ack.

Cleaning the T ape-Handling Part s Dirt, d ust, or particle s of the tape’s coating can acc u- mulate o n th e t ape head and other pa rts tha t the tape touches .
