5 PREPARATION CONNECTING P OWER Using Batte ries You can po wer your rec order with two AA bat- teries (n ot supplied). For the b est perfor- mance a nd longest life, we recom mend Radio Shack alk aline ba tteries. Warn in g: D isp ose of ol d bat teri es pr omp tly ; do not b ury or burn them.

7 U s i n g AC Po w e r You can pow er the Micro- 40 from an AC out- let usin g an AC ada pter (not sup plied), such as Radio Shack C at. No. 273-1 654. Cautions: You must use a Class 2 p ower source tha t suppl ies 3 volts DC and delive rs at least 300 mA.
8 Follow these s teps to p ower the Micro-40 from sta ndard AC pow er. 1. Se t the A C adapte r's v oltage s witc h to 3V . 2. In ser t the 3.4 mm oute r diameter/1.3 mm inner d iameter barrel pl ug into the A C adapter's cord so it rea ds TIP+.
9 Cautions : You must u se a po wer source that suppl ies 3 volts D C and delivers at least 30 0 mA. Its center ti p must be s et to posi tive and i ts plug mu st fit the Micro -40's DC 3V jack. The reco mmended adapter meets the se specif ications .

This setting allows 12 0 minute s of total recordin g/pla y bac k time on an MC-60 tape , or 180 mi nutes o n an MC-90 tape .

20 Caution: To prote ct the t ape-handl ing parts, press ST OP/E JECT or s lide REW/REVIEW FA S T - F / C U E to the cente r when the ta pe reaches the end.
21 USING THE T APE C OUNTER You can us e the tape counte r to no te di ffer ent locat ion s on y our t ape du ring rec ordi ng o r playba ck. Before pl aying or r ecording a tape, rewind the tape com pletely and press the coun ter reset button to set the counter to 000 .
22 T APE TIPS STORING CASSETTE T APES Do not ex pose micro cassette tape s to high tempera tures, high hu midit y, dust or dirt, or motors, transformers, or othe r source s of stro ng magn etic fiel ds.
23 ERASING T A PES To record o ver a microc assette tape, si mply record a s usual. Th e tape rec order recor ds over t he p r evio us re cordi ng. You can quickly erase bo th sides of a ca s- sette ta pe using a RadioShac k bulk ta pe eraser.
