12 CAMCORDER CO NNECTIONS ( MODEL 60 ONL Y) Your Model 60 VCR has jacks on its front pa nel that let you easily connect a c amcorder or other video source. You n eed a stereo A/V cabl e for this connec tion. 1. Insert the plugs at one end of t he cable into the A V 2 AUDIO and VIDEO IN jacks on the M odel 60’s fr o nt panel.
13 VCR SET UP SETTI NG THE 3 CH. 4 SWITCH If you connected the VCR’s O UT TO TV termi- nal to a TV or anot her VCR, set the VCR’s 3 CH. 4 sw i tc h (o n t he b ack of th e VC R) t o 3 or 4 , whichever is not an active cha nnel in your area.
14 INITIAL SET UP Sett ing th e On-Scr een Langu age/ Channels/Clo ck When you first plug in t h e VCR and turn it on, or when y ou t urn it on after a power in terruption longer than 24 hours, the VCR automatically prompts you to s elect a lan guage, and then a u- tomatically scans for active channels in your area and s tores t hem.
15 If no station broa dcasts the E DS signal (or if you do n ot know w hich chan nel se nds an EDS signal), press SEL t to s e lect MANU AL SET a nd skip to S tep 2 u nder “Manually Setting the Clock” on Page 16.

We su ggest you ref er to a radio station or time/temperature service for t he correct time. If the SE T CLOCK m enu alread y appears on the scr een, skip to St ep 3.
17 Adding/Era sing Channels We recomme nd you chec k the channels the VCR a utomaticall y s tored. I t m ight have stored a distan t, weak chann el that you no rmally would not watch, or it m ight have mis sed a channel y ou want to store. If the tuner stores a c hannel that you do not want, tune to that cha nnel and pres s ADD /DL T .
18 Cha n gi n g t he O n-S cr ee n La ng uag e You can change t he on-screen prog ramming language at any time. 1. Press MENU to display the main menu. 2. Use SEL s/t t o highlight the fourt h item, t hen pr ess SET . Note: The title of the f ou rth item dif fers depending on the current language.
19 SETTI NG THE R EMOTE CONTROL’ S CO DES In addition to c ontrolling your V CR, th e remote control can operate the basic functions of your TV or cable bo x. To use the remot e control with your TV or ca- ble box, follow t hese steps t o pro gram the re- mote control with the correct manufacturer’s code number for the TV or cab le box.

21 OPE RATION WA T C H I N G T V Usin g the TV’ s T uner To watch a broadcast using t h e TV’s t uner, t urn off t he VCR, or press TV/ VCR unt il VCR do es not ap pear on t he V CR’s display. Note: If you are usi ng a TV/mon it o r connec t ed to the VCR’s AUDI O/ VIDEO OUT jack s, b e sur e to set the TV/monitor to the TV m ode.

23 SPECIAL FUNCTIONS SPECIAL DISPLAYS Blue Screen Display The blue s creen displ ay appea rs when you se- lect the VCR mod e, play unrec orded portions of a tape, or when you tune t o a weak TV st a- tion. The blue screen also appears if you set the VCR to the audio/video mode when the AU- DIO/VIDEO IN ja cks a re not receiving any sig- nals.
24 Notes: • If you leave the V CR in the f reeze-frame mode for 3 m inutes, the V CR stops playing the tape. • T o re duce or elim inate jitte r in the fre eze- frame picture, pres s and hold CH s/t until the picture is clear .
25 Notes: • If you rewind the tape pa st t he z ero point, the TV displays t he time with a m inus (–) sign. • The count er does not work with blank tapes or bla nk portions of partially recorded tapes.
26 RECORDING There are three ways to record using your VCR — immediat e recording, automatic timer re- cording, a nd dubbing. Your VCR automa t ically records the aud io sig- nal and adjusts the sound level while it records. The video cassette you use for recording mus t have the erase-prot ection tab i n place .
27 SELECTI NG THE SI GNAL TO RECORD Follow these steps to select the signal to recor d — from the IN FROM ANT jack or an a u- dio/video source. 1. Press MEN U . The TV displays the m ain menu. 2. Press SEL s/t to highlight SET UP VCR , then press SET .
28 IMMEDIATE RECO RDING Rec ordi ng a Pr ogram as Y ou W atch It Follow these step to record a program as you watch it. If you k now how long the program is, you can set ho w long the V CR r ecords.
29 AUTOMA TIC T I MER RECORDING The VCR’s automatic timer lets you program it to select an input source, start recording from th a t sour ce a t a ti m e you set, t hen sto p record- ing at a t i me you set. You can set up to eight program timers to record any combination of weekly, daily, or one-t i me events.
30 If y ou have not yet entered any programs, the TV displays the program entry menu when you press PROG . 8. Use SEL s/t to select the date when you wa n t to re co rd . T o record a program at the same tim e on the same day every week, press either but - ton until the TV displays WE EKLY a nd the desired day of t he week .

32 DUBBING The proces s of rec ordin g fr om one audio/v ideo device to another is called dubbing. An audio/video device where a sig nal origi- nates is call ed the dub bing sou r ce.
