1. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure t hat all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions. 2. Use the treadmill only as described. 3. Place the treadmill on a level surface, with at least eight feet of clearance behind it and two feet on each side.
4 21. Do not change the incline of the treadmill by p lacing objects under the treadmill. 22. When folding or moving the treadmill, make sure that the frame is held securely by the pin o n the latch knob. 23. Inspect and properly tighten all parts of the t readmill regularly.

7 1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. With the help of a second person, carefully tip the treadmill onto its side as shown. Partially fold the Frame (55) so that the treadmill is more sta- ble. Do not fully fold the Frame until the treadmill is completely assembled.
8 2. Attach two Base Pads (81) to the base of the Uprights (85) in the indicated locations with two 1 " Tek Scr ews (82) . Note: One replacement Base Pad may be included. Use the Base Pad to re- p lace any Base Pad that becomes worn. 85 81 8 2 82 2 3.
9 6. Raise the Frame (55) to the position shown. Have a second person hold the Frame until this step is completed. Remove the plastic ties from the ends of the Latch Assembly (76). Orient the Latch Assembly so that the large barrel and the knob are in the positions shown; make sure that all the holes are aligned as shown in the inset drawings.
10 10. Attach the console assembly to the Uprights (85) with four Console Bolts (72) and four 3/8" Star Washers (67) (only one side is shown). Start all four Console Bolts and then tighten them. 67 72 85 Console Assembly 10 9. Remove the band securing the TV Cab le ( 112) to the left Upright (85).
1 1 12 With the help of a second person, carefully lower the Uprights (85) to the position shown. Attach the Right Base Cover (86) with three 3/4" Screws (7) and two Base Cover Screws (63). Start all five Base Cover Screws and then tighten them. Be careful not to overtighten the Base Cover Screws.
12 1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. Remove the indicated 3/4” Screws (7) from the back of the Console Base (98). 2. While a second person holds the Console (105), connect the wire on the receiver (A) to the indi- cated wire extending from the Console.
13 HOW TO CONNECT AN ANTENNA I ndoor Antenna 1 . Place a VHF antenna in the desired loca- tion. Connect the 300 ohm fl at wire from the antenna to a 300 ohm to 75 ohm adapter. 2. Push the 300 ohm to 75 ohm adapter onto the 75 ohm an- tenna terminal on the treadmill frame near the power cord.
OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- i cone spray or other substances to the walking b elt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
15 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive and enjo yable. When you select the manual mode of the console, you can change the speed and i ncline of the treadmill with the touch of a butt on.
16 H OW TO TURN ON THE POWER Plug in the power cord (see page 14). Next, locate the r eset/off circuit breaker on the tread- mill frame near the power cord. Make sure that the circuit breaker is in the reset position. Next, stand on the foot rails of the treadmill.
17 Select a display mode and follow your progress with the exercise information on the s creen. A s you walk or run on the treadmill, the screen can display the following exercise information: • The elapsed time. Note: When a program is se- lected, the screen will show the time remaining in the program instead of the elapsed time.
18 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM Insert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16. Identify yourself as user 1 or user 2. See step 2 on page 16.
19 H OW TO USE A PULSE PROGRAM Follow the steps below to use a pulse program. Put on the optional chest pulse sensor. Note: You must wear the optional chest pulse sen- sor to use a pulse program. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16.
20 If the speed settings and/or incline settings are too high or too low, you can change the intensity level o f the program at any time by pressing the in- crease and decrease buttons beside the User but- t on to change the target heart rate setting or the maximum target heart rate setting.
21 H OW TO CREATE A CUSTOM PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 16. Identify yourself as user 1 or user 2. See step 2 on page 16. Select one of the four custom programs. To select a custom program, press the Program button repeatedly.

24 H OW TO OPERATE THE PERSONAL TELEVISION IMPORTANT: Before operating the television, you must connect an antenna, a 75 ohm CATV cable, or a VCR to the 75 ohm antenna terminal on the tread- m ill; a .
25 H OW TO USE THE INFORMATION MODE The console features an information mode that allows you to view treadmill usage information, select a sys- t em of measurement for the console, and turn on and t urn off the demo mode.
26 Press the Power button again and save chan- nels into the television’s memory. When the Power button is pressed, the television w ill begin scanning all of the channels available in your area. When no broadcast signal is detected on a channel, the channel will be skipped.
27 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, you may permanently d amage the treadmill. Remove the key and unplug the pow er cord.
28 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand. Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Note: To release the latch knob, it may be necessary to push the frame for- ward as you pull the latch knob to the left.
29 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
30 Locate the Reed Switch (22) and the Magnet (18) on the left side of the Pulley (17). Turn the Pulley until the M agnet is aligned with the Reed Switch. M ake sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed S witch is about 1/8”. I f necessary, move the Reed Switch slightly using a slotted screwdriver.
31 PROBLEM: The incline of the treadmill does not change correctly S OLUTION: a . With the key in the console, press one of the Incline buttons. W hile the incline is changing, re- move the key. After a few seconds, re-insert the key. The treadmill will automatically rise to the m aximum incline level and then return to the minimum level.
32 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your ex- ercise program. For more detailed exercise informa- tion, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician.
33 SUGGESTED STRETCHES T he correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1 . Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
