2 1. When using iFIT.com programs, an electronic “chirping” sound will alert you when the speed and/or incline of the treadmill is about to change. Always listen for the “chirp” and b e prepared for speed and/or incline changes. I n some instances, the speed and/or incline may change before the personal trainer de- scribes the change.

And wh en you ’re n ot ex- ercising, the unique 1500i trea dmill can be folded up, r equiring less than half the floor space of other tread- mills.
ASSEMBL Y A ssembly requires two persons. S et the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. D o not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Note: The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high-performance lubricant.
7 2. Attach four Base Pads (99) to the base of the Uprights (69) with four 1” Screws (148). Note: One replacement B ase Pad may be included. Use the Base Pad to replace any Base Pad that becomes worn.
8 8. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. Keep the included allen wrench in a secure place; the allen wrench is used to adjust the walking belt (see page 27). To protect the floor or carpet from damage, place a mat under the treadmill.
9 H OW TO PUT ON THE CHEST PULSE SENSOR T he chest pulse sensor consists of two components: the chest strap and the sensor unit (see the drawing below ). Insert the tab on one end of the chest strap into the hole in one end of the sensor unit, as shown in the inset drawing.
10 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high-performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sili- cone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deterio- r ate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
1 1 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to help you get the most from your worko uts. When the manual mode of the console is se- lecte d, th e spee d and incline of the treadmill can be chang ed w ith t he to uch of a button.
12 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER Plug in the power cord (see page 10). Locate the on/of f s witch near the power cord. Make sure that t he circuit breaker is in the reset position. Stand on the foot rails of the treadmill. Find the clip attached to the key (see the drawing on page 11) and attach the clip onto the waistband of your cloth es.
13 The lower right area of the display will show a t raining zone bar that in- dicates the approximate i ntensity level of your e x- ercise. If five or six indi- cators in the bar are lit, for example, the bar shows that your pace is ideal for aerobic exercise.
14 Turn on the fan if desired. To turn on the fan at low speed, press the AutoBreeze Fans button; t he word “Fan” and the number 1 will appear in the display. To turn on the fan at medium speed, press the button a sec- ond time; the number 2 will appear in the display.
15 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 12. S elect one of the preset programs. To select one of the eight preset programs, press the Pr.
16 Follow your progress with the display. See step 5 on page 12. Measure your heart rate if desired. S ee step 6 on page 13. Turn on the fan if desired. See step 7 on page 14. When you are finished exercising, remove the key from the console. When the program has ended, make sure that the incline of the treadmill is at the lowest set- ting.
17 E nter a maximum heart rate setting. When a heart rate pro- gram is selected, the words “Heart Rate” will a ppear in the upper cen- tre of the display and the target heart rate setting for the program will flash. If desired, press the Heart Rate increase and decrease buttons to ad- just the target heart rate setting.
18 HOW TO CONNECT THE TREADMILL TO USE IFIT.COM PROGRAMS To use iFIT.com MP3 or CD programs , the treadmill m ust be connected to your MP3 player, CD player, p ortable stereo, home stereo, or computer. See pages 18 and 19 for connecting instructions. To use iFIT.
19 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO N ote: If your stereo has an unused LINE OUT jack, see instruction A below. If the LINE OUT jack is b eing used, see instruction B. A. Plug one end of a long 3.5 mm to RCA stereo audio cable (available at electronics stores) into the input jack on the console.
20 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR VCR N ote: If your VCR has an unused AUDIO OUT jack, see instruction A below. If the AUDIO OUT jack is b eing used, see instruction B. If you have a TV with a built-in VCR, see instruction B. If your VCR is connected to your home stereo, see HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO on page 19.
21 If the speed or incline settings are too high or too low, you can manually override the settings at any t ime by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons on the console. However, when the next “chirp” is h eard, the speed and/or incline will change to the next settings of the program.

23 THE INFORMATION MODE/DEMO MODE T he console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has b een operated and the total number of kilometres that the walking belt has moved.
24 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, the treadmill may be per- m anently damaged. Remove the key and unplug the power cord.
25 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand as shown. Using your left hand, pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the treadmill down until the frame is past the latch pin. 2. Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands, and lower the treadmill to the floor.
26 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please call the telephone number on the front c over of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
27 Locate the Reed Switch (10) and the Magnet (7) on the left side of the Pulley (8). Turn the Pulley until the M agnet is aligned with the Reed Switch. M ake sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed S witch is about 3 mm (1/8 in.). I f necessary, loosen the Screw (27), move the Reed Switch slightly, and then retighten the Screw.
28 PROBLEM: The chest pulse sensor does not function properly S OLUTION: a . If the chest pulse sensor does not function properly, see CHEST PULSE SENSOR TROUBLE- SHOOTING on page 9. b. If the chest pulse sensor still does not function properly, the battery should be changed.
