PRODUCT IDENTIFICA TION Figure 1 WARNING:Installation and repairs should be performed by a qualified service person. More frequent cleaning may be required due to excessive lint from carpeting, bedding mate- rial, etc.
PRODUCT FEA TURES SAFETY DEVICE This heater has a pilot with an Oxygen Deplet ion Sensor Shutoff System (ODS). The ODS/ pilot is a required feature for vent-free room heat ers. The O DS/pilot shuts off the heater if there is not enough (oxygen) fresh air.
CAUTION THIS HEATER CREATES WARM AIR CURR ENTS. THESE CURRENTS MOVE HEAT TO WALL SURFACES NEXT TO HEATER. DO NOT INST ALL HEATER WHERE IMPURITIES IN THE AIR MAY EXIST. MINIMUM CLEARANCES T O COMBUSTIBLE CONSTRUCTION NOTE: FOR GARAGE INSTALLATION • Heater Pilot and Burner must be at least 18" off the floor.

3. Lift heater b y each bottom corner and place the round part of the tear dro p punch out over each screw head. Gently push down until the body of the screw is at the end of the slot. NOTE: Make sure unit is level. 4. Now you are ready to hook up the gas line.

VENTILA TION AIR VENTILA TION AIR FROM INSIDE BUILDING This fresh air would come from an adjoining unc onfined space. W hen venting to an adjoining space, you must provide two permanent openin gs: one within 12" of the ceiling and one within 12" of the floor on the wall connecting the two spaces (see O ptions 1 and 2, Figure 8).

You must pr ovide two permanent openings: one within 12" of the ceiling and one within 12" of the floor.
WA R N I N G : ANY CHANGE TO THIS HEA TER OR ITS CONTROLS CAN BE DANGEROUS. GAS CONNECTION Check gas type. Use only the type of gas indicated on the valve rating plate. If the type of gas listed on the plate is not your type of gas supply, DO NOT INSTALL.
CONNECTING T O A GAS SUPPL Y CAUTION: NEVER CONNECT HEATER DIRE CT LY TO THE PROPANE SUPPLY. THIS HEATER REQUIRES AN EXTERNAL REGULA TOR (NOT SUPPLIED). INSTALL THE EXTERNAL REGULATOR BETWEEN THE HEATER AND THE PROPANE SU PPLY. The installer must supply the extern al regulator for liquid propane gas.
CAUTION: Use only new black iron or steel pipe. Internally tinne d copper tubing may be used in certain areas. Check state and local codes. Use pipe of 1/2" or greater in diameter to allow proper gas volume. If pi ping is too small, undue loss of pressure will occur.
GAS PRESSURE CHECK Check the inlet pressure to the burner to insur e that it is as shown in the ta ble below. NOTE: The pressure check point is located on the right side of the valve facing burner.
LOG PLACEMENT FOR 1 127 Logs are shipped secured in unit. NOTE: When operated for the first time, logs may emit a “paper burning” smell. This smell will gradually diminish and will be tota lly elimin ated after the first few hours of operation. Do not use the blower at this time.

THERMOST A T CONTROL OPERA TION The thermostat contro l used on this heater differs from standard therm ostats. Standard thermostats simply turn the burner on and off. Th e therm ostat used on this heater senses the room temperature and adjusts the amount of gas flow to the burner.
FLAME CHECK A periodic check of the flames should be made. The pilot flam e should always be present when the unit is in operation. See Figure 17. FLAME: Propane (LP) should produce a flame that is about 6" above the rear log. This flame should be yellow.
BURNER FLAME P A TTERN Figure 18 shows a correct burner flame pattern. Figure 19 shows an incorrect burner flam e pattern. NOTE: When using the heater the first time, the l ogs will em it a paper like odor for about one hour.
