This guide is written for knowledgeable users, trained customer engineers, service center personnel, and deale rs. Please read these installation procedures in their entirety before starting.

1-2 Introduction Introduction The system rack is an attracti ve enclosure desi gned to store and prote ct your server components. The s y stem rack allows you to integrate your server, monitor, and other components in one cabinet that may be installed in a limited amount of floor space in just about any location.

Note: The r ack suppor ts up to 55 1.2 lbs. ( 250 k g). Use Table 2-1 to calculate th e load that each r ack of your system configurat ion places on the floor.
2-6 Planning Your Site If you do not know the load capacity of your flooring, consult y our building manager or an archi tect. In many instances the equipment is installed dire ctly on the existing floor and interconnecting power cables a re protected by cable covers.
Planning Your Site 2-7 System Rack Placement The system rac k comes equipped with a front stabilizer that: ! steadies the rack when you extend equipm ent for servicing, and ! prevents creeping due to vibration. The stabilizer is pr edrilled to allow y ou to secure the system rack to the floor.
2-8 Planning Your Site Figure 2-2. Distance Between Stabilizer Anchors If the rack is installed on a concrete floor, you can bolt the rack to the floor using 3/8" concrete drop-in anchors and 1½ "-16 bolts.
Planning Your Site 2-9 Air Conditioning A properl y sized air conditioning s y stem ensures stabl e and reliable operation of y our servers b y performing the following tasks: ! cooling the s yste m ! preventing the generation of stati c charges ! preventing the formation of corrosion causin g condensation within the sy st em.
2-10 Planning Your Site The air conditioner’s capacit y must be larger than the sum of the above items. Use Table 2-3 to calculate calori fic values – in BTUs.
Planning Your Site 2-11 Grounding Requirements The system rack must have a dedi cated ground attached to the powe r distribution panel. The ground wire must have an earth r esistance of 100 ohms or less and depending on y our local electric al code, a thickness of 38 mm 2 or more.

Installing the System Rack 4-5 Opening Front and Rear Door s The front and rear doors of the rack are secu red b y handles with keylocks. To open the door: 1. Slide the handle release cover up to uncov er the keylock and the h andle release button. See Figure 4-2, A.

As the installation progresses, connect the power cables from individual system components to the receptacles of the AC distribution panel located in the rear of the UPS.

Installing Rack Components 5-13 To install your PDU: 1. Place two ca ge-nuts (Figure 5-9, A) on each rail at the locati on you have chosen to mount your PDU. 2. Secure the PDU to the rails using the black plasti c washers and plat ed-finish screws (Figure 5-9, C).
5-14 Installing Rack Components As shown in Figure 5-10, the ke y board tra y is secured to the front and rear rails of the system rack in with cage-nuts, black plastic wash ers, and plated finish screws that ca me with the system rac k. To install your keyboard tray: 1.
