1 1 Chapter 1 Introduction Welcome to MOXA NP ort 1220/12 40 USB-to- Serial Hub. NPort 1220 provides 2 RS -422/48 5 serial ports and NPort 1240 prov ides 4 RS-232 serial ports.

2 2 Chapter 2 Driver Installation This chapter includ es information about installin g the driver for NPort 1220/1240. We present th e installation pr ocedure for both W indows 98 and W indows 2000 (t.
Installing the Driver 1. Connect NPort 12 20/1240’s USB Port to your computer’s U SB port. Make sur e NPort 1220/1240 and your computer is properly connecte d. 2. After you connect NPor t 1220/1240 to your computer , a Found New Hardware window will automatically open.
Driver Installation 5. A window will open asking you where you want to locate the driver files. Check Specify a location box, .and then click Next . 6. A window will open asking you to insert the installation disk. Insert the installation disk into your CD drive,and t hen click Browse to locate the installation file.

Driver Installation 9. A window will open showing the Driver Files Search Results . Click Nex t to install the driver. 10. When the Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard wi ndow opens, click Finish to close the wizard.
11. A welcome message will appear. Click Next to continue installing Moxa [Port 1]. 12. A window will open asking you to insert the installation disk. Insert the installation disk into your CD drive, an d then click Browse to locate the installation file.

NOTE If you wish to install the driver using “Insta ll Driver” pro gram, you will need to follow the instructions below. 1. Insert the soft ware CD (incl uded i n the NPort 1220/12 40 package ) into you r computer’s C D drive, and t hen click o n Instal l Software .
Driver Installation Checking the Installation You can check th e installation of NPort 1220/1240 under your computer’ s Device M anager window. You should ch eck under bot h Ports (COM & LPT) and Universal Serial Bus controllers .
Configuring the Ports Port configuration for NPort 1220/1240 differs sligh tly between Windows 98 and Windows 2000 /XP. To modify the configu ration for a particu lar port, double click on the listing for that po rt under Port s (COM & LPT) in the Device Ma nager wind ow.
Driver Installation Windows 2000/XP The figures shown here wer e created under W indows 2000. Th e procedure for Windows XP is essentially the same. Click on the Por t Settings tab to change the Bits per second (data transmission speed), Da ta bits , Parity , Stop bits , a nd Flow control .
Uninstalling the Driver To uninstall the driver, op en the Device Manger win dow, and simply del ete the NPort 1 220/124 0 ports under Ports (COM&LPT ).

Serial Programming Tools Diagnostic (for MOXA boards only) A convenien t diagnostic program, ONLY for MOXA boards and por ts, provides internal and extern al testing of IRQ, TxD/RxD, UART, CTS/RTS, DTR/DSR, DTR/DCD, etc. It allows t he user to check the function of both s oftware and hardware.
