GB - 5 1. W ARNING! 2. DANGER! 3. DANGER! SAFETY RULES Read, understand, and follow al l safety practices in owner/operator m anual before beginning assembly or operating. Failure to follow instructions could result in personal injury and/or d amage to unit.
GB - 6 DO NOT operate near drop-offs, di tches, or embankments. Unit can s uddenly turn over if a wheel is over the edge of a cliff or ditch, or if an edge caves in. Falling snow , fog, etc. can reduce vision and cause an accident . Operate unit only when there is good visibility and light.
GB - 7 Check clutch and brake operation frequently . Adjust and service as required. All motion of drive wheels and auger/impeller must stop quickly when cont rol levers are released. DO NOT operate on steep slopes. DO NOT clear snow across the fa ce of slopes.
GB - 8 PACKAGE CONTENTS ASSEMBLY T ools Required : • Pliers • Open-end wrenches: 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16 in. and/or adjus t able wrench • T ire gauge Unfold Handleba r (Figure 4) 1. Remove the lower and loosen the upper hardware on the handlebar assembly .
GB - 9 Inst all Discharge Chu te (Figure 5) 1. Remove mounting hardware from the bottom of the chute pedestal. 2. Install discharge chute over opening in the auger housing and secure pedestal to auger ho using with hardware removed in step 1. Inst all Disch arge Ch ute Cra nk (Figure 6) 1.
GB - 10 Check Function of Dual Handle Interlock Without the engine running, pres s down (engage) both clutch levers. Release attachment clutch lever . Attachment clutch should remain engaged until traction cl utch lever is released, then both clutches must disengage.

GB - 12 CONTROLS AND FEA TURES See Figure 7 for all Controls and Features locations. Dual Handle Interlock When attachment clutch and then traction drive clutch are engaged, the attachment clutch will remain engaged ( lever down) if released. T o stop attachment, release traction drive clutch and both clutches will disengage.
GB - 13 Forward: (6) Fastest (1) Slowest Reverse: (1) Slow (2) Fast IMPORT ANT : DO NOT change motion from forward to revers e with clutch engaged. Forward speed can be changed without declutching. Fuel Shut-Off V alve IMPORT ANT : The fuel shut-off valve M UST be in the closed position prior to transporting the unit.
GB - 14 Discharge Chute Crank IMPORT ANT : If chute does not st ay in set position, adjust as directed in SE R VI C E AND ADJUST MENTS on page 18 , or repair before operation. Rotate the chute with the discharge chute crank handle. IMPORT ANT : DO NOT force frozen chute controls.
GB - 15 3. Clean fuel cap and surrounding area to prevent dirt from entering fuel tank. 4. Re move cap. IMPORT ANT : See engine ma nual for correct type and grade of f uel. 5. Fill fuel tank to indicator line in filler neck with unleaded gaso line. 6.
GB - 16 9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 until engine start s. (If engine does not start, ref er to TROUBLESHOOTING on page 28.) 10. Adjust choke as need ed. Shut Off 1. Release tract ion drive clutch lever and allow unit to come to a complete stop. 2. Run imp eller a few minutes a fter use to prevent freeze-up of impeller .
GB - 17 MAINTENANCE SCHE DULE The chart below shows the recommended maintenance schedule that should be performed on a regular basis. More frequent service may be required. * After first five hours of operation. ** After f irst two hours of operation.
GB - 18 T o ensure adequat e lubricant level: 1. Remove filler plug (F igure 12). Lubricant must be at least up to bottom of lubricant filler hole with uni t resting on a level- surface. 2. Add lubricant if required. Allow oil to drain to level of plug and replace plug.
GB - 19 2. Adjust skid shoes by inserting a spacer of desired thickness under center of scraper blade, loosen sk id shoe hardware, s lide skid shoes to flat surface. Allow 1/8 in. (3 mm) between scraper blade and hard smooth surfaces. A llow 1- 1 /4 in.
GB - 20 DISCHARGE CHUTE If discharge chute does not stay in position while operating, tighten nut on carriage bolt at pivot point to increase tension on spring (Figure 17). SP EED SELECT OR ADJUSTMENT T o adjust (Figure 1 8): 1. Disconnect adjustment pivot pin from speed select or arm.
GB - 21 4. Remove belt finger by rem oving cap screws mounting belt finger to engine (Figure 20 or Figure 21). 5. Remove attachment drive belt from engine sheave ( it may be nec essary to turn engine s heave using recoil starter handle).
GB - 22 T RACTION DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT NOTE: Housing and frame must be tipped apart and attachment drive belt removed from engine sheave in order to change traction drive belt (Figures 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23) 1. Remove attachment drive belt (S ee Remove Attachment Drive Belt on page 20).
GB - 23 ATT ACHMENT CLUTCH/BR AKE ADJUSTMENT Remove Att achment Cable Slac k 1. Remove the belt cover . 2. Loosen jam nut on cable adjustment barrel, and then turn the adjustment barrel down to shorten cable and remove all c able slack. See F igure 24.
GB - 24 Adjust th e Atta chment Clutch Cable S pring Extension 1. Check the attachment clutch cable spring extension. Measure the length o f the attachment clutch cable spring with the clutch lever disengaged. Then measure the attachment clutch spring with the clutch lever engaged.
GB - 25 Check Belt Finge r Clear a nce (Figure 29) 1. With c lutch lever engaged, the belt finger located opposit e the belt idler must be less than 1/8 in. (3.2 mm ) from belt, but not touching the belt . T o adjust belt finger , loosen the bolt s and move the finger to the proper position.
GB - 26 FRICTIO N DISC R EPLAC EMENT Remove Friction Disc (Figu re 31 and Figure 32): 1. Shut off engine, remove key , disconn ect spark plug wire and allow unit to cool completely . 2. Place the unit into the service position on a level surface. 3. Remove lockpins from wheel axles and remove wheels.
GB - 27 13. Insert new friction disc assembly into frame. Install washers ont o carrier bearing and slide int o speed selector arm. 14. Slide hex shaft through new f riction disc assembly . Install pinion gear and washer onto hex shaft and slide shaf t into right bearing.
GB - 28 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE CORRECTION Engine wi ll not crank/ start. 1. Fuel tank is empty . 2. Fuel shut-off valve closed. 3. Build up of dirt and residue around governor/carburetor . 4. Key switch not in run position. 5. Engine start switch turned off.
