GB - 5 1. W ARNING! 2. DANGER! 3. DANGER! EMISSIO N CONTROL SYS TEM This equipment and/or its engine may include exhaust and evaporative emissions control system components required to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EP A) and/or California Air Resources Board (CARB) regula tions.
GB - 6 Keep children and people away . Keep children out of work area and under w atchful care of a responsible adult. NEVER allow children to operate or play on or near unit. Be alert and shut off unit if children enter area. DO NOT allow adults to operate unit without proper training.
GB - 7 Abnormal Vibrations are a warning of trouble. S triking a foreign object can damage unit. Immediately stop unit and engine. Remove key and wait for all m oving part s to stop. Remove wire f rom spark plug. Inspect unit and make any necessary repairs before restart.
GB - 8 For extended storage, clean unit thoroughly . See Engine Manual for proper storage. Use only a ttachment s or accessories designed for your unit. Check com ponents frequently . If w orn or damaged, replace wit h manufacturer ’s recommended parts.
GB - 9 Inst all Headlight ( 920012, 014, 015) (Figure 5) 1. R emove headlight from location under dash panel. Keep nut for inst allation. 2. Attach headlight to bolt on ri g ht side of the dash. F asten with nut removed in step 1. 3. Plug wireharness into headlight.
GB - 10 Inst all Remote Deflec tor Cable (920015) (Figure 8 and 9) 1. Slide cable through clip on top of discharge chute pedestal (Figure 8) . 2. Bend clip closed around cable. 3. Using the w ire hook attached to the deflector cable, hook cable to discharge chute crank.
GB - 11 . Check Function of Dual Handle Interlock Without the engine running, pres s down (engage) both clutch levers. Release attachment clutch lever . Attachment clutch should remain engaged until traction cl ut ch lever is released, the n both clutches must disengage.

GB - 14 CONTROLS AND FEA TURES See Figure 10 and 1 1 for all Controls and Features locations. Dual Handle Interlock When Attachment Clutch and t hen T raction Drive Clutch are engaged, the Attachment Clutch will remain engaged (leve r down) if released.
GB - 15 S peed Selector Position the Speed Selector in the appropriate speed notch to control forward and reverse t ravel. Forward: (6) Fastest (1) Slowest Reverse: (1) Slow (2) Fast IMPORT ANT : DO NOT change motion from forward to revers e with clutch engaged.
GB - 16 Recoil St arter Handle When pulled, handle will turn engine over . IMPORT ANT : DO NOT let handle snap back against starter . See St arting and Shut Off on page 18. Snow Clean-Out T ool (Figure 14) T o clear the discharge chute: 1. Shut off the engine.
GB - 17 Scraper Blade The scraper blade allows the back of t he housing to keep better contact wit h the surface being c leared. It also prevents damage to the hous ing from normal use. IMPORT ANT : DO NOT allow Scraper Blade to wear too far or Auger/Impeller housing will become damaged.
GB - 18 PRE- ST ART 1. Frozen Impeller IMPORT ANT : Before starting engine, check impeller to be sure it is not frozen. T o check impeller: 1. With ignition key switch in “S top” position, squeeze A ttachment Clutch Lever to Engaged position. 2. Pull Recoil S tarter Handle.
GB - 19 11 . 9200013, 014, 015 - Set throttle to Par t Throttle or Slow position for adaptat ion to outside temperature or travel. Set throttle to Fast positi on for norma l operation. Electric S tart (12 0 V) 1. C onnect extension cord to starter . IMPORT ANT : Prevent damage to unit.
GB - 20 Ariens Dealers will provide any service or adjustments which may be required to keep your unit operating at peak efficiency . Should engine service be required, contact an Ariens dealer or an auth orized engine manufacturer's service center .
GB - 21 CHECK CLUTCH OPERATION Auger / impe ller must stop within 5 seconds when attachment clutch/impeller brake lever is released. Wheels must st op quickly when traction drive clutch lever is released.
GB - 22 GENERAL LUBRICATION (Figure 18) IMPORT ANT : Wipe each fitting clean before and after lubrication. Do not wipe gea rcase filler plug; wiping the gearcase filler pl ug may remove thread sealant and cause leaks . IMPORT ANT : DO NOT allow grea se or oil to get on friction disc, f r iction plate or belts.
GB - 23 SHEAR BOLTS (Figure 20) IMPORT ANT : Use only Ariens shear bo lts for replacement. Use of any other type of s hear bolt may result in severe damage to unit and may void the warranty . Occasionally a foreign object may enter the auger/impeller housing and jam the auger , breaking shear bolts which secure the auger to the shaft.
GB - 24 DISCHARGE CHUTE (Figure 23) If discharge chute does not stay in position while operating, tighten nut on carriage bolt at pivot point to increase tension on s pring. SPEE D SELECTOR ADJUSTMEN T (Figure 24) T o adjust: 1. Disc onnect adjustment pivot pin from speed selector arm.
GB - 25 ATT AC HMENT DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT Remove Att achment Drive Belt (Figures 25, 26 and 27) 1. Shut off engine, remove key , disconnect spark plug wire and allow unit to cool completely . 2. Loosen the hardware sec uring belt cov e r to u n i t.
GB - 26 7. Run in the attachment belt. S ee Run-in Attac hme nt Be lt on page 1 1. 8. Replace belt cover and tighten hardware. T RACTION DRIVE BELT REP LACEM ENT (Figures 28) NOTE: Housing and frame must be tipped apart and attachment drive belt removed from engine sheave in order to change traction drive belt.
GB - 27 6. Replace t raction drive belt. 7. Swing dr ive plate toward friction disc and slide finger into stop hole i n frame. 8. Reinstall swing gate spacer . NOTE: Make sur e drive plate spr ing remains connected to the frame and drive plat e. 9. Replace attachment drive belt (See Replace Attachment Drive Belt on page 25).
GB - 28 Check Att achment Idler Arm Roller Clearance 1. Place the unit into the service position. Remove the bottom cover. 2. With t he attachment clutch lever engaged, check the clearance between the frame an d plastic roller on the lower end of the at tachment idler arm (Figure 31).
GB - 29 2. Adjust cable length. a. Loosen jam nut on cable. b. T o decrease spr ing extension adjust barrel up the c able and tighten jam nut. c. T o increase spring extension adjust barrel down the cable an d tighten jam nut. Check At tachme nt Brake (Figure 34) 1.
GB - 30 T o adjust traction clutch (Figure 37): 1. With t he traction drive clutch lever disengaged, loosen the jam nut on the cable adjuster . T urn adjustment barrel up the cable to decrease the distance between clutch lever and handlebar. T urn the adjustment barrel down the cable to increase the distance between clutch lever and handlebar .
GB - 31 10. R emove three screws holding friction disc to carrier bearing. 1 1. Remove old friction disc. Put t he new friction disc in place, cup side to carrier bearing. 12. R einstall three screws into new friction disc and car rier bearing. T orque to 5 – 6 lbf-ft.
