EN - 6 RULES FOR SAFE OPE RATION This cutting machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and throwing objects. Failure to observe the following saf ety instructions could result in serious injury or death. The following safety instructions are based on recommendations f ound in ANSI standard B71.
EN - 7 If your log splitter is equipped wi th an internal-combustion engine and intended for use near any unimproved forest, brush, or grass cov ered land, the engine exhaust should be equipped with a spark arrestor . Make sure you comply with applicable local, state, and federal codes.
EN - 8 Never store the equipment wit h fuel in the tank inside a building wher e fumes might reach an open flame or spark. A llow the engine to cool before storing in any enclosure. Clear debris f rom movable parts, but only when the pow er source is s hut off.
EN - 9 OPERA TOR ZONE This unit is des igned to be operated by one person located in t he operator zone (see figure 3) . Do not use log splitter for any purpose other than splitting logs. Keep children, people, and pet s away . Be alert and shut of f unit if anyone enters work area.

EN - 1 1 CONTROLS AND FEA TURES See figure 4 for all controls and features locations. Engine Swi tch (Item 2) The engine switch has two positions: 1. OFF Engine will not start or run. 2. ON Engine will start and run. Choke Control Leve r (Item 3) 1. ST ART (Choke C losed): Chokes off air to engine for easier starting.
EN - 1 2 Control Le vel (Item 9) (Figure 5) The control lever is used to move the splitting wedge in or out when operati ng in the horizontal position or up and dow n when operating in the vert ical position. Extend/Down – Move lever in this direct ion to extend cylinder toward end plate.
EN - 1 3 IMPORT ANT : Rear stabilizer must be in the transport position before placing beam in vertical operating position (see Rear S t abil i zer (Item 12) on page 14) . T o mov e beam to horizontal position: 4. Carefully rotate beam down until seated on lock brac ket.

EN - 1 5 IMPORT ANT : DO NOT OVERFILL! This equipment and/or its engine may include evaporative emissions contro l system components, required to meet EP A and/or CARB regulations, that will only function properly when the fuel t ank has been filled to the recomm ended level.
EN - 1 6 3. Move rear stabilizer to transport position and lock in p lace (see Rear Stabilizer (Item 12) on p age 14) . 4. Attach log splitter hitch to tow vehicle with class 1 or higher receiver and 2-in. ball. Adjust hitch cou pler to ensure loc k lever fully locks onto ball with no excess movement.
EN - 1 7 S plitting Logs Determine if the size of t he logs to be split can be safely and comfortably lif ted up onto the beam in the horizontal position. If logs are too heavy for the operator , position the beam in the vertical posit ion for splitting.

EN - 1 9 HYDRAULIC OIL SYST EM Checki ng Hydrauli c Oil Level IMPORT ANT : ADD OIL BEFORE OPERA TING! Add hydraulic oil to operating level before use. Do not overfill . T o check the hydraulic o il level: 1. Park the unit on a level surface. 2. S tart the unit and run it t o operating temperature (abo ut 10 minutes).
EN - 2 0 6. Reinstall hydraulic suction hos e and tighten hose clamp. 7. Lubricate rubber gasket on new oil filter with clean hydraulic oil. 8. S pin new oil filter onto filter housing until it makes contact. T i ghten oil filter another 1/2 turn. 9. Add new oil to t he oil tank.
