GB - 5 2. DANGER! 3. DANGER! SAFETY RULES Read, understand, and follow al l safety practices in Owner/Operator Manual before beginning assembly or operating. Failure to follow instructions could result in personal injury and/or d amage to unit. AL WA YS disconnect batteries before assembly , maintenance or servic e.
GB - 6 DO NOT operate near drop-offs, di tches, or embankments. Unit can s uddenly turn over if a wheel is over the edge of a cliff or ditch, or if an edge caves in. Falling snow , f og, etc. can reduc e vision and cause an accident . Operate unit only when there is good visibility a nd light.
GB - 7 DO NOT operate on steep slopes. DO NOT clear snow across the fa ce of slopes. Keep all movement on slopes slow and gradual. DO NOT make s udden changes in s peed or direction. Use a slow speed to avoid stops or shift s on slopes. Avoid starting or stopping on a slope.

GB - 9 Inst all Discharge Chute Figure 5 1. Grease underside of discharge chute ring (if not already greased). 2. Remove mounting hardware from the bottom of the chute pedestal. 3. Install discharge c hute over opening in the auger housing and secure pedestal to auger ho using with hardware removed in step 2.
GB - 10 Inst all Remote Deflector Cab le (Figure 8 and 9) 1. Slide cable through clip on top of discharge chute pedestal Figure 8. 2. Bend clip closed around cable. 3. Using the w ire hook attached to the deflector cable, hook cable to discharge chute crank.
GB - 11 . Charge Batteries The batteries MU ST be charged for a minimum of 7 hours before the first use. See Pre-Start on page 15. IMPORT ANT : The unit MUST be connected to the battery charger whenever it is not in use. Failure to k eep batteries fully charged will reduce battery life and void bat tery warranty .

GB - 13 CONTROLS AND FEA T URES See Figure 10 for all Controls and Features locations. Dual Handle Interlock When attachment clutch and then traction drive clutch are engaged, the attachment clutch will remain engaged ( lever down) if released. T o stop att achment, release traction drive clutch and both clutches will disengage.
GB - 14 S peed Selecto r Position the Speed Selector in the appropriate speed notch to control forward and reverse t ravel. IMPORT ANT : DO NOT change motion from forward to revers e with clutch engaged. Forward speed can be changed without declutching.
GB - 15 Scraper Blade The scraper blade allows the back of t he housing to keep better contact wit h the surface being c leared. It also prevents damage to the hous ing from normal use. IMPORT ANT : DO NOT allow scraper blade to wear too far or auger/impeller housing will become damaged.
GB - 16 4. Plug battery charger into wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord unless necessary . I f an extension cord is needed follow the m anufacturer’s recommendations for length and capacity . Ensure that status indicato r LEDs are lit on charger (see F igure 14).
GB - 17 2. Chec k Dual Ha ndle Interl ock Without the drive motor running, press down (engage) both clutch levers. Release attachment clutch lever . Attachment clutch should remain engaged until traction cl utch lever is released, the n both clutches must disengage.
GB - 18 T RANSPORT AL WA YS move PTO and power sw itches to OFF position and r emove key when transporting unit on a truck or trailer . Use extra car e when loading or unloading unit onto trailer or t ruck. Secure unit chassis to transport vehicle. NEVER secure from rods or linkages that could be damaged .
GB - 19 CHECK CLUTCH OPERATION Auger and impeller m ust stop within 5 seconds w hen attachment clutch/impeller brake lever is released. Wheels must st op quickly when traction drive clutch lever is released.
GB - 20 SCRAPER BLADE IMPORT ANT : Damage to auger/impeller housing will result if blade wears down too far. Scraper blade is adjustable to compensate for wear . T o adjust scraper blade: 1. Tip unit back onto handlebar , support housing and loosen nuts ret aining scraper blade.
GB - 21 SHEAR BOLTS IMPORT ANT : Use only Ariens shear b olts for replacement. Use of any other type of s hear bolt may result in severe damage to unit and may void the warranty . Occasionally a foreign object may enter the auger/impeller housing and jam the auger , breaking the shear bolts which secure the auger to the shaft (Figure 19).
GB - 22 REMOVING A ND INST ALLING BATTERIES Removal 1. Move power and PTO switches to the OFF position. Rem ove key from s witch. 2. Re move four screws securing battery cover to unit and rotate battery cover toward handlebar . Use care not to place excess tension on wires.
GB - 23 ATT ACHMENT DRIVE BELT REPLACEME NT Remove Att achment Drive Belt (Figures 24, 25 and 26) 1. Move power and PTO switches to the OFF position. Rem ove key . 2. Disconnect batteries. 3. Loosen the hardware securing belt cov e r to u n i t. NOTE: DO NOT completely remove the hardware from unit.
GB - 24 Replac e Att achment Drive Be lt 1. Place new belt onto attachment pulley . NOTE: Hold down the attachment cl utch lever to mak e it easier to rec onnect the housing and frame. 2. Tip housing and f rame back together and secure with hex bolts.
GB - 25 5. Pull idler aw ay from traction drive belt and remove belt from idler , drive pulley and driven pulley . 6. Replace tracti on drive belt. 7. Swing dr ive plate toward friction disc to slide finger into stop hol e in frame. Reinstall swing gate spacer .
GB - 26 Check Att a c hment Idl er Arm Roller Clearance 1. Place the unit into the service position (see Service Position on page 18). Remove the bottom cover. 2. With the clutch lev er engaged, check the clearance between the frame and plas tic roller on the lower end of the att achment idler arm.
GB - 27 2. Adjust cab le length (See Figure 32). a. Loosen jam nut on cable. b. T o increase spring extension, adjust barrel down the cable and tighten jam nut. c. T o decrease spring extension, adjust barrel up the c able and tighten jam nut. Check At t achment Brake Figure 33 1.
GB - 28 FRICTION DI SC REPLACEM ENT Remove Fric tion Disc Figure 36 1. Move PTO and power switches to OFF position. Rem ove key . 2. Disconnect and remove batteries. 3. Place the unit into the service position on a lev el surface (see Service Pos ition on page 18).
GB - 29 18. C onnect pivot pin to speed selector arm. See Speed Selector Adjustment on page 22. 19. Install bottom c over . 20. Install wheels. 21. Return unit to upright position. 22. Install and connect batteries. 23. Adjust traction drive clutch. See T raction Drive Clutch Adjustment on page 27.
GB - 30 Unit throws snow poorly or does not throw snow . 1. Shear bolts broken. 1. Replace shear bolts (see Shea r Bolt s on page 21). 2. Atta chment clutch/brake not adjusted properly. 2. A djust attachment c lutch/brake (see Attachment Clutch/Brake Adjustment on page 25).
