GB - 7 EMISSION CONTROL SYS TEM This equipment and/or its engine may include exhaust and evaporat ive emissions control system components required to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agenc y (EP A) and/or California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations.
GB - 8 DO NOT operate unit if safety int erlock system is damaged or disabled. Check safety interlock before each use. AL WA YS r emove key to prevent unauthorized use. DO NOT op erate at too fast a rate. Slow down before turning. S top engine before removing grass catcher o r unclogging chute.
GB - 9 Replace fuel cap securely and clean up spilled fuel. NEVER fill containers inside a vehicle or on a truck or trailer bed with a plastic liner . Always place containers on the gr ound away from your vehicle before filling. When practical, remov e gas-powered equipment from the t ruck or trailer and refuel it on the ground.

GB - 13 CONTROLS AND FEA TURES See figure 5 for all controls and features locations. Safety Interlock Syste m Perform the f ollowing tests to ensure the safety interlock system is working properly . If the unit does not perform as stat ed contact your Ariens dealer for repairs.
GB - 14 Timer (TMR1): me asures the time spent on individual jobs. Press and hold the toggle button to reset the timer to zero. TMR1 will then start measuring engine run time until it is reset to zero again.
GB - 15 Adjusting Sea t Lift adjustment lever and slide seat forward or backward to the desired position. FILLING FUEL T ANK T o add f uel to the fuel tank: 1. C lean fuel caps and surrounding area to prevent dust, dirt , and debris from entering fuel tanks.
GB - 16 MOVING UNIT MANUALL Y Disengage (2) transmiss ion bypass levers to drive unit and engage (1) transmission bypass levers to push unit manually (figure 8). ST ARTING AND SHUTTING OFF ENGINE S tarting the Engine NOTE: Disengage the PTO, engage the parking brake, and place the steering l evers in neutral prior to s tarting the engine.
GB - 17 IMPORT ANT : Proper maintenance can prolong the life of unit. The following chart shows the re commended serv ice schedule. Refer to the maintena nce instructions in the Engine Manual for additional information.
GB - 18 TIPPING SEA T FORW ARD Put steering levers up and tip s eat forward. Each Use Follow Engine Manual Mainten- ance Schedule Perform scheduled engine maintenance. Refer to E ngine Manual for de tailed instructions. NOTE: T o drain the oil, use the oil drain hose (1) su pplied with unit, not the drain plug that is shown in the Engine Manual.
GB - 19 OPENING AND CLOSING HOOD T o open, pull up on the back o f the hood until hood hits t he hood stop and push down on back of hood to close (figure 10). OPENING DECK ACC ESS PLA TE 1. I nstall adjustment pin in the fi rst adjustment hole (figure 11).
GB - 20 LEVELLING AND ADJUSTING PITCH OF MOWER DE CK NOTE: Adjust on a level surface, with the tires inflated to the correct air pressure (see SPECIFICA TIONS on page 30). There are three meas urements required to level and adjust the pitch of the mower deck.
GB - 21 Adjusting The Mower Deck T o Adjust Mower Blade Height And Pitch (Figure 17): NOTE: Adjusting the mower deck will adjust the height and pi tch of the mower blades. 1. A djust the trunnions first and re-take the three measurements required to level and adjust the pitch of the m ower deck.
GB - 22 SERVICING BA T TERY NOTE: Unit comes equipped with a maintenance-free battery that requires no regular maintenance except cleaning the terminals and periodic charging. Battery Remov al and Inst allati on Remove (Fi gure 18) 1. Tip seat forwar d (see TIPPIN G SEA T FORW ARD on page 18).
GB - 23 Charging the Battery (Figure 19) Follow First Aid directions for contact with battery fluid. • External Contact: Flush with water . • Eyes: Flush with wa ter for at least 15 minutes and get m edical attention immediately! • Internal Contact: Drink large quantities of water .
GB - 24 3. Adju st Steer ing Lever F orward or Backwar d 1. Lo osen, do not remove, the bolts securing the handlebar to the upper control arm. 2. S lide steering lever forw ard or backward to desired position and tighten bolt s. NOTE: Tigt hen upper bolt first.
GB - 25 4. R emove PTO belt from left mower deck pulley . 5. S lowly release idler arm until tension is removed f rom idler spring. 6. R emove PTO belt from mower deck and electric clutch. Inst all (Fi gure 23) NOTE: Do not install PTO belt on left mower deck pulley in step 1.
GB - 26 Change Hydra ulic Fluid and Filter (Figure 26) NOTE: Change hydraulic fluid and filter after the first 75 hours of operation and then every 400 hours. Use 20W-50 engine oil with an SL API classification. 1. P lace container under oil f ilter to catch oil.
GB - 27 Short T erm Storage IMPORT ANT : NEVER clean unit with high- pressure wa ter or store unit outdoors. Remove all dirt, greas e, leaves, etc. Store in a clean dry area . Inspect unit for s igns of wear or damage. Ensure all fasteners are properly t ightened.
