W ate r softene r T o set the water softener W ate r ha rd ness leve l o f 20 -63 0 mg/ l (1 - 35 ° d German scal e): Switch the dishwas her off. Use a screwdrive r to remove the lid of the water ha rdness level sele ctor in the wa sh cabin et. Check th at the se lector is set to set - ting 6 (facto ry setting).
W ate r softene r W ater hardness level of 650-1260 mg/l (36 - 70 °d German scale): Switch the dishwas her off. T u rn the programme sele ctor switch to the “STOP” posi tion. Press th e “Delay start” and “ST ART ” buttons at the sa me time and at the same time switch the d ishwasher o n by pr essing the “On/Of f”- button.
W ate r softene r Filling the salt reservoir Please only use s pecial coars e grained dishwasher salt for reactiva tion, as other sa lts may co ntain inso luble addi- tives whic h can impa ir the fu nctioni ng of the sof tener . The salt reservoir holds approx.
W ate r softene r Salt indicator When the salt r eser voir i s empty the “Salt” indicator light comes on. The reservoir should be refilled with dish- washer s alt for r eactiva tion.
Adding rinse aid Rinse aid is necessar y to e nsure that water doe s not c ling and le ave marks on crockery du ring the dr ying phase. Rinse aid is pour ed i nto the sto rage re servoir and the amo unt set i s dis- pensed automat ically . The rinse aid reservoir holds approx.
Add rinse aid only until it is visible on the sur face of the filter in th e open- ing. Close the fl ap firmly . The flap mu st audi bly engage, other- wise water could get int o the rins e aid storage cont ainer during th e pro- gramme. Mop up any split rinse aid.
Loading the dishwas her Note Load the crockery so that w ater w ill come into con tact with a ll sur faces. This ensures that they will be properly cleaned. Do not place crocker y an d cutlery in- side other pieces whe re they may be concealed. Hollow it ems e.

Loading the dishwas her Cutlery Dishwashers wi th cutl ery basket: Unsor ted cutler y s hould be place d in the cutler y bask et, handles f acing downwards. Y ou may , however , prefer to place cutlery with sh arp points with the handles upwards. Place small spoons in t he individual slots to e ither side of the cu tlery basket.

It can be completely removed from its frame and carried t o the cutl ery drawer , or table whe re it can be eas ily un- loaded. For best result s cutler y should be grou ped in zone s, one fo r knives, on e for forks, on e for spo ons etc.
Loading the dishwas her Spoon heads should be placed in s uch a way that water runs off t hem fr eely . Cutler y wit h round or oval handles should b e pla ced with the head s in th e grips as t his prevents th em slipping. Ensur e that sp oon he ads ar e i n conta ct with at least on e of the grips in t he cut- lery tray .
Loading the dishwas her Flap up racks Can either be used f or a second row of cups or raised upw ards to make room for tall items . Positioning rail (standard feature depending on model) For easy sor ting and removing of cr oc- kery the positioning rail can be rested to one side.
Loading the dishwas her Adjusting the upp er basket (depending on mo del) In order to gain more space for taller pieces of crockery in the bo ttom o r upper basket, the upper basket can be adjusted in three steps wit h 2 cm be- tween eac h step. Pull out the upper baske t and loosen the two locknuts on either side of the basket.
Items no t suit able fo r dishw ashers – cutler y with w ooden or hor n ha ndles, – wooden or plastic ch opping boards, – glued items, e .g. old kniv es with handles which have been glued on, – hand-made craf t items, – copper or tin items, – plastic it ems which a re not heat resis- tant.
Adding dete rgen t Only use dete rgents for mulated fo r domestic dishwa shers. Do not use washing u p liquid. Please note Dishwasher detergents co ntain irri- tant or corrosive ingredients. Th ey can cause bu rnin g in the mout h and throat if swa llowed, or in hibit br eathing.
Preventive measures: 1. If you wish t o continue using the ne w chlorine and phosphat e-free pr o- ducts, the following is r ecommende d: – T r y out an environmentally friendly detergent of the same type fr om a n- other manu facturer .
Dishwasher d etergent must be a dded before each prog ramme (except PRE- W ASH). – Pour powde r or liquid deter gent into the dispenser . – Dishwash er detergent t ablets can be put at vario us pla ces in t he wash cabinet, (follow the man ufacturer’ s advice on th e packet) .
For infor matio n: Compartment I takes m ax. 25 m l, Com- part ment II ma x. 80 ml. There are hori- zontal mark ers to as sist with dispensing in compar tment II, in dicat- ing the level in ml. Pres s the op ening c atch o n the co n- tainer flap. The flap will spring open .
Choosing a programme Choose y our programme according to the type o f load and ho w dirty it is. In most cases this wi ll be the NORMAL programme or one of the UNIVER SAL programmes. NORMAL 55° UNIVERSAL 55° or 65° These programmes are ideally suited to ever yday loads , mixed loads with va- rying degrees of soiling.

Switching on and off Switching on Close the door Open the stopcock (if it is clo sed). Press th e “On/Of f”-swi tch (14 ). When the pr ogramme an d tempera tur e selector s witch (21 ) is in the “ STOP” po- sition a dot lights up in the display f ield (17).
Switching on and off Note: The “Reac tivation” process is car- ried out befor e a wash pr ogramme. It lasts sever al mi nutes. During th is pr ocess onl y the “Reacti - vating” indicat or light is on. The hardness le vel of t he inlet w ater dictate s how ofte n (after how ma ny pr o- grammes) wat er need s to be softened .

Additional o ptions T op Solo (18 ) (for small amounts of crockery) With this fu nction th e majo rity of th e water is di re cted onl y to the top and middle spray arms in the dishwasher . This means th at the wat er jets are aimed only at items in the u pper bask et and cutle ry tray (wher e fitte d).
Cleaning and c are Cleaning the filters in the wash cabinet The dishwasher must not be used without all the filt ers in place! The filter combination in the base of the wash cabinet should be regularly in- spected and c leaned if necess ar y . T ur n the ha ndle a nti-cl ockwise t o r e- lease the f ilters.
Cleaning and c are T u rn the f ilter combination ov er and open the coa rse filter by pulling back on the locking dev ice. Clean the coars e filter under running water , using a brush if ne cessar y , and press the locki ng device back in. Impor tan t: After clean ing make su r e that the lo ck- ing device is properly locked.
Cleaning and c are Cleaning the spray arms Part icles of f ood can lo dge in th e spray arm je ts. The spray a rms should be ins pected and clean ed regularly (approx. ever y 6 months). T o do t his remove the spra y ar ms as fo l- lows. Lift up th e middle spray arm b to en- gage the tooth-wheel mechanism.
Cleaning and c are Cleaning the drain pump and non-return valve If water has not been pumped away at the end o f a programme the drai n pump or the non-return v alve might be blocked. They are , however , easy to clean. W atch out for glass splinters, which could c ause injur y .
Cleaning and c are Cleaning the filter in the wa ter inlet A filter is inco rporated in the screw con- nection of th e valve on th e water inlet hose. The filt er must be cleane d when dirty , oth erwise insufficient water flow s into the wash cabi net.
Cleaning and c are Cleaning the wash cabinet In gene ral the w ash cabine t is self - cleaning, provided that the correct amount of dishwash er detergent is used. If howev er ther a re time scale or grease deposits th ese can b e r emoved wi th a pro prietary dis hwasher c leaner .
Problem solving guide With the aid of the followi ng expl ana- tor y notes, minor fa ults can be cor- rected without con tacting the Miele Ser- vice Depar tment. Any work on the electr ical compo- nents of the applian ce should only be carried out by a suitably quali- fied and compete nt person in ac- cordance with local a nd national regulations.
The wash cy cle is c ancelled b efore the end and the “W ater outlet” check light flashes – The dra in hose i s kinked. – The drain pump is blocked – see “Cleaning and care”. – Foreign bodies are obstructing the non-retur n valve - see "C leaning an d care".
The “Spray arm ” check l ight flashes – The middle spray ar m is obs tructed by crockery . Open the dishwasher door and remove the obstructio n. – The spray ar e jets ar e blo cked - see "Cleaning and care". Befor e r emoving the obst ruction: T ur n the pr ogra mme selecto r to STOP .

Installing a freestanding dish washer "Freestanding" dishwashers The dishw asher must be le vel and stable wh en instal led. Any unevenne ss in the floor level can be compens ated for by adjust- ing the fo ur scr ew feet. The adjust ment range is approx.
Installing a freestanding dish washer 1. Establishing the height of the decor panel Adjust the dishw asher to the heigh t re- quired before establishing t he height of the decor panel. The upper edge of t he control panel facia and the to p edge of an adjacent do or or draw er must be a t a matc hing he ight.

Installing a freestanding dish washer 2. Matching the door height The plinth facia and th e cover caps at the sides m ust be r emove d befor e th e decor frame strips can be unscrewed. Push the plinth facia upw ards and pull forwards out of th e fastenin g.

Shorte n the decor frame st rips, and the packin g card (if used) by meas- urement " X ". When usin g the decor pa nel sup - plied: Draw a line to jo in the two marks for measu rement " X ".
Installing a freestanding dish washer Refit th e packing c ard (if used) and the decor panel. Fit t he decor panel into the lower deco r frame strip, posi- tion the pac king card behind it , bow the decor panel forwards and s lide under the control facia pan el.
Installing a freestanding dish washer Fit the side cover caps. Push th e plinth s trip into t he fixin g b and then press downwa rds c . Please note : The plinth strip must engage in the side cover cap.
Installing integrat ed “i” Dishwashers The “i” model dishwashers a re spe- cially design ed for building under a continuous worktop. The front can be fitte d with a base unit front to match the kitche n fur niture. By using a decor set GDU “i” mode l dishwashers c an be co nverted into a built-under “U”model dis hwasher .
1. Fit worktop protection A stainless steel “n ir o” coverpl ate is supplied with the machine to protect the underside of the worktop agains t steam rising from the machine. The coverplate is supplied as standard with "i" models. Squeeze seal ant fr om the tube sup- plied b into the angl e of the “niro” plate.
2. Building the dishwasher i nto a niche Connectio n to water an d drainage should be sit ed beside and n ot behind the dishwash er for accessibility . Co n- nections are us ually made in the area under th e sink. Many kitc hen unit manu- facturers provide a cutout in the base of the sink base unit for the hose s to be fed through.
The slides mak e installatio n of the dish- washer easie r and protect the floor from possi ble damage when m oving the appliance into and ou t of the re- cess. They a re also used for adjusting the hei ght of the r ear sc re w feet. Adjust the height ma nually be fore in- stalling the dis hwasher .
Adjust th e re ar scr ew feet t o the r e- quired height. Higher = tu rn clo ckwise Lower = turn anti-clockwise Several turns a re needed to adjust 1 mm in height. A batt ery- powered screw- driver could be used. Adjust the front screw feet manually or with a flat blade scr ewdri ver .
Installati on integrated “i” Dishwasher s 3. Fitting the facia panel The facia panel is delivered separat ely in the colour o rder ed with the ne cess- ary ac cesso ries. It has to be fi tted to the dish washer when it is being inst alled. Place the seal s upplied b in the groove round the ventilation grille c .
4. Matching the facia p anel to the dimensio ns of the adjacent drawer fronts The facia panel ca n be aligned with the drawer fr onts of the ki tchen u nits by ad- justing the space r bars. Using an 8 mm so cket spa nner tu rn clockwis e or anti-clock wise until the requir ed height is reached.
5. Fitting the (matching) door front The door of a k itchen base uni t (without the drawe r facia or f ittings) is n ormally used for th e door fr ont. The door front is fix ed to the machin e door outer panel using a fixing bracke t which has to be pre-mounted on t he re ar of th e door f ron t.

Installati on integrated “i” Dishwasher s Pull the dishwash er out of its recess enough to al low easy a ccess to th e side fixing sc rews fo r the door fr ont. Hang the door front int o the slits in the machine door oute r panel, adjus t for height and se cure.
6. Adjusting the door springs The door springs are correctly adjusted when a half opened door (approx. 45° opening angle) remains in that position when r ele ased. If the door drops down, then th e door springs n eed to be ti ghtened. If, howe ver , it rises up, then the springs need to be released.
If one of the s crew positions is in the cut-out area, e.g. of the built-i n sink, at - tach the fixi ng bracket sup plied. Pull the dishwash er approx. 5-10 cm out of the recess. Position the fixi ng bracke t. Push the dishwasher back into the re- cess, adjust and scr ew in to position with a (3 .
8. Matching the plinth facia of a kitchen run The plinth area of the d ishwasher is nor- mally covered with a plinth run mat ch- ing the kitchen fu rnitu re. The height ( H ) of the plinth facia around the dishwash er depends on the plinth ret ur n ( R ) and how much the door front extends below the di shwasher door ( P ).
Electrical conne ction Please follo w the installat ion instruc - tions carefully . This dishwasher i s supplied r ead y for conn ection to an a. c. sin gle phase supply , (23 0 - 240 V 50 Hz for the UK and Aus tralia). I t is supplied with a mains cable and moulded plug.
Non rewireable plugs BS 1363 If this mach ine or appliance is fit ted with a non -rewir eable plug, the follow- ing infor mation a pplies: If the soc ket outlets a re not suitable for the plug s upplied with this product, it must be cut of f and an appr opriate plug fitte d.
Plumbing Connection to the water inlet W ater in th e dishwasher must not be used as drink ing water . The dishwasher may be connected to a cold or hot water supply , max.
Ther e must be a distanc e of at least 20 cm between t he floor and the bott om of the “W at erpr oof” un it housing, for either ver tical or hori- zontal inst allation. If the stopcock is situated in the worktop, a special angle connector can be ordered from the Miele Spare Parts Dept.
Drainage The machine drainage system is fitted wit h a non-return v alve, whic h preve nts dirty water fr om flowing back into the machin e via the drain hose. The dishw asher is supplie d with ap- prox. 1.5 m of flexible drain h ose with an inter nal dia meter of 22 mm.
