Black plate (22,1) Always le ave your car locked and keep the car keys safely away from children: Leaving your car unlocked or the keys in reach of children is dangerous. Children who find their way into the trunk through an unlocked rear seatbac k or an ope n trunk can become accidentally locked in the trunk.
Black plate (23,1) WARNING Always ma ke sure the seat belts are fully pulled out from under the seatbacks: A seat belt caught under a seatback after the seatback is returned to its upright position is dangerous. In a collision or sudd en stop, the seat belt cannot provide ad equate protection.
Black plate (24,1) Head Restraints Y our vehicle is equipped with head restraints on all outboard seats. The head restraints are intended to help prote ct you and the passengers from neck injury .
Black plate (25,1) Folding down/ up (5 Door) The rear seats are equipp ed with foldable head restraint s. T o fold the head restraint, pull the stra p and fold the head rest raint downward. T o return the head restraint to its upright position, lift it upward.
Black plate (26,1) NOTE l The active head restraints operate in a r ear-end collision. The head r estraints r eturn to their original position after the collision. l The method for adjusting the active head r estraints is the same as non-active head r estraint.
Black plate (27,1) WARNING Ø Be careful when using the seat warmer. The heat from the seat warmer may be too ho t for some people, as indicated below, and could cause a low-temperatur e burn.
Black plate (28,1) Seat Belt Precautions Seat belts help to d ecrease the possibility of severe injury during accidents and sudden stops. Mazda recommends that the driver and all passengers always wear seat belts. All of the seat belt retractors are designed to keep the lap/shoulder belts out of the way when not in use.
Black plate (29,1) WARNING Always wea r your seat belt and make sure all occupants are pro perly restrai ned: Not wearing a seat belt is extremely dangerous. During a collis ion, occupa nts not wearing seat belts could hit someone or things inside the veh icle or even be thrown out of the vehicle.
Black plate (30,1) CAUTION Belt retract ion may become difficult if the belt s and rings are soiled, so try to keep them clean . For more details abou t cleaning the seat belts, refer to “ Cleani ng the Lap/Shoulder Belt Webbing ” (page 8-67).
Black plate (31,1) q Automatic Locking Mode Always use the automatic locking mode to keep the child-res traint system from shifting to an unsafe position in the event of an acciden t. T o e nable seat belt automatic locking mode, pull it all the way out and connect it as instruct ed on the chil d-restraint system.

Black plate (33,1) q Unfastening the Seat Belt Depress the button on the seat belt buckle. If the belt does not fully retract, pull it out and check for kinks or twists. Then make sure it remains untwisted as it retracts. Button NOTE If a belt does not fully retract, inspect it for kinks and twists.
Black plate (34,1) Front Seat Belt Pretensioner and Load Limiting Systems For optimum protection, the driver and front passen ger seat belts are equipp ed with prete nsioner and load limiting systems. For both these systems to work properly y ou must wear the seat belt properly .
Black plate (35,1) Do not modify the compo nents or wiring, or use electronic testing devic es on the pretensioner system: Modifying the componen ts or wiring of the pretensioner system, including the use of electronic testing devices is dangerous.
Black plate (36,1) A system malfunct ion is indicated if the warning ligh t constantly flashes, constantly illuminates or does not illuminate at all when the igni tion is switched ON. If any of these occur, consult an Authorized Mazda Dealer as soon as possible.
Black plate (37,1) Seat Belt Extender If your seat belt is not long enough , even when fully extended, a seat belt extender may be available to you at no charge from your Authori zed Mazda Dealer . This extend er will be only for you and for the particula r vehicle and seat.

If not, the child could be seriously injured or even killed in an accident .

SRS air bags are designed to work together with the seat belts to help to reduce inju ries during an accident. Black plate (100,1) q Advanced Key Left-in-vehicle W arning Beep If an advanced key is left in the vehicle cabin and all the doors are locked using a separate a dvanced key , a beep sound is heard for about 10 seconds to remind the driver that the advanced key has been left in the vehicle cabin.

Black plate (107,1) q T ransmitter Maintenance If the buttons on the transmitter are inoperable and the operation indicator light does not flash, the battery may be dead. Replace with a new battery before the transmitter becomes unusable. CAUTION Ø Install the batte ry with the positive pole ( ) facing down.

Black plate (1 10,1) q Locking, Unlocking with T ransmitter (with Retract able T ype Key) The doors can be locked /unlock ed by operating the keyless entry system transmitter, refer to Keyless Entry System (page 3-27). q Locking, Unlocking with Door - Lock Knob T o lock any door from the inside, press the door-lock knob.
Black plate (11 1,1) (Without advanced key) The vehicl e lock-out prevention feature prevents y ou from locking yourself out of the vehicle. With the key in the igni tion switch, all doors and the liftgate will automatically unlock if they are locked using the power door locks with any door or the liftgate open.
