Introduction Congratulations on your pur chase of the Audiophile USB by M-Audio. The Audiophile USB is y our audio and MIDI upgrade for an y PC or Macintosh computer*, utilizing the conv enience of your computer’ s USB port—no tools or computer disassembly is requir ed.

Front Panel Featur es 1. Headphone Out: This is a stereo headphone output on a 1/4” TRS jack. Connect only a ster eo plug to this jack. 2. Headphone Lev el: This knob contr ols the lev el of the stereo output signal sent to the headphone jack.
2. Left Input and Right Input (RCA Analog Inputs): These jacks input analog audio from a variety of external sour ces. Each jack is female RCA, compatible with common male RCA cables. When plugs are inserted into the 1/4” jacks, these RC A inputs ar e defeated.
Hardwar e Installation Find a conv enient spot near your computer f or the Audiophile USB.With the Audiophile’ s pow er switched “Off, ” plug the included power suppl y into your wall sock et, and plug its 2.5mm plug into the Audiophile’ s 9V AC 1000 mA Pow er Jack.
4. The Wizard reports that Windows has finished installing the software. Click “Finish”. Y our Audiophile USB is ready for action. After completion of the driver installation, Windows ma y r equire y ou to r estart Windows. If it does request a r estart, r emov e the Drivers CD fr om the CD drive and r espond by clicking “Y es”.

Tr oubleshooting Prob lem: No sound output. P ossible Cause 1: The Audiophile USB hardware or softwar e device driv ers are not properl y installed. See the installation sections of this manual for further information.
Prob lem: Repetitious Sound. P ossible Cause: An IRQ resource conflict with the USB contr oller and another device (PC only). Often this will result in a small segment of sound (0.5 to 1 second) repeating itself o ver and ov er , sometimes completely locking up the computer .

Appendix B - Driver/Software Install, Step by Step Wi ndows XP: 1. During this installation, the Audiophile USB must be power ed off. Begin the installation process b y inserting the Drivers CD R OM in y our computer . 2. A Setup window will appear . Click “Next, ” to continue.
