About the Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III The ThinkPad ® Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III is used to contain the 2.5-inch Serial ATA hard disk drive. It can only be installed into an Ultrabay ™ media bay that is compatible with Serial ATA hard disk drives.

Using the Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III This section provides information on installing a supported har d disk drive into your Ultrabay media bay using the Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III. Note: The adapter supports only the 2.5-inch Serial ATA hard disk drive.
Installing a new hard disk drive using the adapter To install a new har d disk drive using the adapter , do the following: 1. Lift the adapter retaining latch. 2. Insert the drive into the adapter at an angle. 3. Slide the drive into the connector until it locks into place.
4. Lower the adapter retaining latch until it snaps closed. 5. Insert the adapter into the Ultrabay media bay . Note: For information on the Ultrabay media bay , refer to your system documentation that comes with your computer .
2. Lift the adapter retaining latch. 3. Insert the drive into the adapter , and then insert the adapter into the Ultrabay media bay by following step 1 to step 5 in “Installing a new hard disk drive using the adapter” on page 2-2.
