5 English Connecting the subwoofer speaker Y ou can enhance the bass by connecting a subw oofer . Connect the input jack of a powered subw oofer to the SUBWOOFER OUT jack on the rear panel, using a cable with RCA pin plugs (not supplied).
6 English IMPORT ANT: This receiver is equipped with both the composite video and S-video input/output terminals for connecting video components. Y ou do not have to connect both the composite video and S-video terminals.

9 English Connecting the Power Cord Before plugging the receiv er into an A C outlet, make sure that all connections hav e been made. Plug the power cord into an A C outlet. K ee p the power cor d away from the connecting cables and the antenna. The po wer cord may cause noise or screen interference.
10 English Basic Operations The following operations are commonly used when you play any sound source. IMPORT ANT: When using the remote control, check to see if its remote control mode selector is set to the correct position: T o operate this receiver , set it to “AUDIO/TV/ VCR.
11 English Signal and speaker indicators on the display • The signal indicators light up to indicate the incoming channel signals. – Only the indicators for the incoming signals light up.
12 English Listening only with headphones Y ou can listen with the headphones without deacti vating both pairs of speakers; ho wever , if you want to use the HEADPHONE mode (see below), you must turn of f both pairs of speakers. 1. Connect a pair of headphones to the PHONES jack on the front panel .
13 English Basic Settings Some of the following settings are required after connecting and positioning your speakers in your listening room, while others will make operations easier .
14 English Center Delay T ime Setting Register the delay time of the sound from the center speak er, comparing to that of the sound from the front speakers. If the distance from your listening point to the center speaker is equal to that to the front speakers, select 0 msec.
15 English Crossover Fr equency Setting Small speakers cannot reproduce the bass sound v ery well. So, if you hav e used a small speaker for any of the front, center , or rear channels, this receiv er.

22 English PTY codes When an emergency br oadcast (Alarm ! signal) is sent from an FM station: The receiv er automatically tunes in the station except in the follo wing cases: • When y ou are listening to non-RDS stations (all AM — MW/L W and some FM stations).

The indicator of recei ved PTY code starts flashing. When the program is ov er, the r eceiver goes back to the previously selected source, but still remains in EON standby mode.
24 English Using the SEA Modes The SEA (Sound Effect Amplifier) modes give you control of the way your music sounds. IMPORT ANT: When using the remote control, check to see if its remote control mode selector is set to the correct position: T o operate this receiver , set it to “AUDIO/TV/ VCR”.
25 English Using the DSP Modes The built-in Surround Processor provides three types of the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) mode — 3D-PHONIC mode, DAP (Digital Acoustic Processor) mode and Surround mode.
