6 P ositioning the pr ojector Ther e ar e a number of factors to consider when det ermining wher e to set up the proj ector , including the size and sh ape of your scr een, the location of your power outlets, and the distance between the proj ector and the rest of your equipment.
7 Video connections Y o u can connect VCRs, DVD players , camcorders, digital ca meras, video ga me s, H D T V r e c e i v e r s , a n d T V t u n e rs t o t h e p ro j e c t o r .

9 Using the remote control The r emote uses two (2 ) provided AAA batteries . They ar e easily installed by slidi ng the c over of f the r emote’s back, aligning the + an d - ends of the batteries , sliding t hem into place, and then r eplacin g the cover .
10 Optimizi ng video im ag es After the video device is c onnected pr operly and the image is o n the scr een, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on using the menu s, see page 1 1. • Change the Aspec t ratio .
11 Using the menus T o open the menus, pr ess the menu button on the r emote. (The men us auto- matica lly close aft er 60 second s if no buttons ar e pressed.) The Ma in menu appears. Use the ar row button s to move up and down t o high light th e desir ed submen u, then pre ss the Se lect button.
12 Pictur e menu T o adjust the following five s etting s, highlig ht the se tting, pr ess Select , use the up and down arrows to adjust t he values, th en pres s select to confirm the changes. A ll menu defaults a re li sted in a ta ble starting on page 28 .
13 Presets : This allows you to cust omize setti ngs and sav e the settin gs to be rest ored l ater . T o restor e the factor y default set tings, choo se Factory Res et in the Setting s>S ervice menu . T o set a preset for the current source, adjust the image, select Sa ve Settings in the Presets menu, the n choose Sav e User 1, 2 , or 3.
14 Tr u e L i f e : This option r efers to Faroudja’s T rueLife pr ocessing of the image. All sta ndard definition i nterlac ed video signa ls (composite, S-video a nd component) ar e rout ed throug h this pr ocessor . Extended a nd High Defin i- tion prog ressive co mponent sources ar e not r outed though this pr ocessor by default.
15 Color Spac e : This o ption a pplies to computer an d HDTV so urces (it won ’t appear in the menu f or vide o sour ces) . It all ows you t o sele ct a col or sp ace that ha s been specific ally tuned for the v ideo input. W hen Auto i s selected, the pr ojector a utomatic ally dete rmines the standar d.
16 Settings menu Sources : allows you to assi gn a particula r input to a speci fic sour ce ke y on the remote an d enabl es or dis ables Au tosou rce. When Auto source is not checked, th e projecto r defaults t o the last-used sour ce. If no sour ce is found, a blank s creen di splays.
17 Po w e r S a v e : when On, the l amp is a utomatica lly turned off af ter no signals are det ected for 20 minut es. After 10 addit ional min utes with no signal , the pr oje ctor po wers dow n. If an active signal i s re ceived befor e the pr ojector pow ers down, the ima ge will be dis played.
18 Ser vice : to use these fe atures , highligh t them and pr ess Select . Fa c t o r y Re s e t : restor es all settings (except Lam p Hours) to their default after di splaying a confirmat ion dialog box. Lamp Reset : resets the lamp hour counter in the About menu to zero.
19 Replacing the projection lamp Y ou can orde r new lamp mod ules fr om your d ealer . 1 T urn off the pr ojector and un plug the power cable. 2 W ait 60 minutes to allow the projector to cool thor oughly . W ARNINGS : • T o avoid burns , allow the projector to cool for at least 60 minutes be fore you r eplace the lamp .
20 4 Remove the lamp door by unscr ewing the scr ew then sliding t he door off. 5 Remove the lamp m odule by un scr ewing the 2 scre ws th en pulling the bail wir e. Dispose o f the lamp in an enviro nmentally proper manne r . 6 Install the new lam p module, mak ing sur e that it is pr operly sea ted.
21 Cleaning the lamp filte r screen In dirty or dusty envir onments, the dust filter scr een on the lamp m odule can become clogged, causing hig h temperatures inside the lamp module. These high temperatur es can impact la mp performance and oper ating life.
