It houses the DSP mix engine together with control and audio networking interfaces. The 64 input x 32 bus architecture is fully configurable for mono/stereo and type of mix.

ALLEN & HEATH iLive Reference Guide AP6526 iss.3 23 Rotary encoder This control lights up when it has a function as signed. It is used as a send level, PAN or image control depending on the type of mix currently selected with the MIX key and whether it is a fader or rotary mix.
24 ALLEN & HEATH iLive Reference Guide AP6526 iss.3 Fader The fader is motorised and automatically changes position wh en you select different fader layers or change the mix using the MIX keys. They also change to show the mix master GEQ (graphic EQ) settings when in GEQ FADER FLIP mode.

These keys are also used while in system setup mode to configure the strip functions, names and colours.

An FX ‘short return’ is a stereo input channel that returns the o utput of the device to the mix.

Touch the screen buttons to toggle the assignments on or off. The screen provides an alternative to using the MIX keys to view and change DCA assignments.

You may as sign as many of these as you ch oose to the Surface strips. The DCA master fader does not physically move the assigned channel faders.

The se tting is global and affects all direct outputs. You can choose the point within the channel signal path and whether or not it follows the main channel mute and /or fader.

Link Fader Banks Set the Surface fader bank s for independent or linked layer operation across all banks.
74 ALLEN & HEATH iLive Reference Guide AP6526 iss.3 Name and Colour Each Input channel, mix master and DCA master can ha ve a 5 character name and one of 6 colours or no backlight applied. The names appear on th e strip LCDs and TouchScreen pages, and the colour affects the strip LCD backlights.
ALLEN & HEATH iLive Reference Guide AP6526 iss.3 75 User Profiles iLive lets you set up and work with up to 8 'User Profiles'. You can set permissions and a password for each to restrict operator access to certain functions.
76 ALLEN & HEATH iLive Reference Guide AP6526 iss.3 Library memories You can name, store and recall parameter settings as Us er libraries, or recall factory presets from the Library pane in each processing screen. Touch the Library button to open up the library view.
ALLEN & HEATH iLive Reference Guide AP6526 iss.3 77 Scene memories iLive has 250 Scene memories. These are 'snapshots' of all or a selection of the live mixing parameters. They do not store the DSP bus config uratio n and user preferences.
78 ALLEN & HEATH iLive Reference Guide AP6526 iss.3 Using the Edit SCEN E CONTENTS page Add selected parameters to a Scene You can store ‘partial’ Scenes. Select items from the list in the left hand window to add to the scene. Expand and collapse the tree list using the + and – buttons.

It would be a daunting task for the new user if we gave them a ‘blank c a n v a s ’ t o s t a r t f r o m s c r a t c h .

This may no t be ideal in a festival situation where several guest eng ineer s arrive with their settings stored as Shows on their USB keys.
84 ALLEN & HEATH iLive Reference Guide AP6526 iss.3 W orking with USB data iLive can transfer its Show memories, libraries an d log files between the onboard c omputer and an external PC or another iLive s ystem via a USB memory k ey. You can also recall a show directly from the key without the need to copy it to the Surface first.
