2 2 Getting st arted Your HUAWEI MediaPad at a glance Installatio n Y our HU AWEI MediaPad supports only standard micro - SIM cards. Do not insert any other cards as doing so m ay damage your de vice. Contact your carr ier to replace or purc hase a micro-SIM card.
3 1. Insert the end of the SIM eject tool prov ided with your HUAWEI MediaPad into the holes of the micr o - SIM and microSD card tr ays to release them. 2. Gently remove the card trays. 3. Ins ert the micro - SIM and microSD cards in the direction i ndicated in the figure until they are properly installed in the card tray s.
4 If the device is powered on, the battery is charging when the battery icon in the status bar changes to . If the device is powered off , the battery is charging w hen is displayed on the screen.
5 Your home screen at a glance Display area: Display widgets and app lication icons. Dock: displays your most common applications. Back key: Touch to return to the previous screen. Home key: Touch to go to the home screen. Recent key: Touch to view recently used applications and running applications.

8 Shortcut operations T o open an application: On the home screen, touch the application. T o switch between the home screen and it s extensions: On the home s creen, flick your finger left or right. T o customize the home screen: T ouch and hold a blank area on the home screen.
9 Flick down from the status bar t o open the notification p anel. Touch to display the settings screen. Touch the switch shortcuts on the notification panel to turn on or off the functions. Touch to display the switch shortcut list and touch to edit it .
10 3 T ext input Y our HUAWEI MediaPad comes with multiple input methods. Y ou can quickly enter text using the onscreen keyboard. T ouch a text input field to bring up the onsc reen keyboard. When you are done, touch to hide the onscreen keyboard.
11 4 Cont acts Creating a contact 1. On the home screen, touch Contacts to display your contacts list. 2. Touch . 3. Enter the related information, such as the contact's name, phone number, and email address. 4. Touch Add another field to add more information.

13 5 Calls Making an emergency call In the event of an emergency , you can make emergency calls w i thout a SIM card. However , you must still be within the coverage area. 1. On the home screen, touch Dialer . 2. Enter a local emergency number and touch .

15 6 Messaging Searching for a message If you are having trouble finding a specific message in a pile o f messages, this function can come to your rescue. 1. On the home screen, touch Messaging . 2. Touch > Search . 3. Enter a keyword in the search box.
16 7 Network connection Connecting to a Wi - Fi networ k 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Wi - Fi . 2. Touch the key next to Wi - Fi or d rag the k ey to . Your HUAWEI MediaPad then automatically scans for available Wi - Fi netw orks. 3. Select the desired Wi - Fi network and follow the onscreen instructions.
17 8 Network sharin g Y ou can use various methods to share your HUA WEI MediaPad's data conne ction with other wireless devices. Sharing your network using a Wi - Fi hotspot By setting up your HUA WEI MediaPad as a Wi - Fi hot spot, you can share y our mobile network with other devices.
18 Sharing your data connection using Bluet ooth tethering With Bluetooth tethering, you can share y our HUAWEI MediaPad's dat a connection with other Bluetooth devices. 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Al l . 2. Touch Mor e … > Tethering & portable hotspot under WIRELE SS & NETWORKS .
19 9 Managing applica tions Installing an appli cation Y ou can obtain and install an application using any of the follow ing methods: Download it from an online app store or by us ing a browse r . After the application is downloaded, follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
20 10 Multimedia Importing photos Y ou can import photos from a camera or other s torage device (such as a USB flash driv e or phone) to your HUA WEI MediaPad using only a USB OTG c able. 1. Use a USB OTG cable to connect a camera and your HUAWEI MediaPad .
21 1. On the home screen, touch Gallery to open Gallery. 2. To uch a photo or video to view it in full screen mode. Flick your finger left or ri ght across the screen to view the previous or next file. When viewing a photo or video, y ou c an: Filter fragmented images.
22 11 Customized settings The HUA WEI MediaPad allows you to set a desired photo as the wallpaper , design home screen widgets, and set desired ringtones. Changing the theme Y our HUAWEI MediaPad comes with multiple themes, easily allowing your device to have a new look as often a s you want.

24 Managing your home screen 1. On the home screen, touch and hold a blank area. 2. In the displayed dialog box, touch Thumbnails . 3. On the thumbnail screen, you can: T ouch and hold a home screen thumbnail to mov e its position. T ouch to add a home screen.
25 T ouch to d elet e a blank home screen. Setting the ringtone 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Sound . 2. Select the desired ringtone type. 3. Follow the onscreen instructions to select your favorite music or recording as the ringtone.
26 Adjusting the screen bright ness 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Al l > Displa y > Brightness . 2. In the displayed dialog box, perform either of the follow ing operat ions: Select the Automati c brightness check box to let your device automatically adjust the screen brightness based on the ambie nt light.
27 12 File sharing Sharing files using Wi - Fi Direct Wi - Fi Direct is a function to connect wireless devices using a Wi - Fi network. After wireles s devices are connecte d, they can quickly share files among them. 1. On the home screen, touch Settings > Wi - Fi .
28 Multi - screen display Y ou can push photos, videos, or games on y our HUA W EI MediaPad to a large s creen, such as a TV , to view them more conveniently . If your TV supports HDMI and a resolution of 720p or above, you can use it with a HUA WEI MediaQ for multi - screen display .
